Hi I am 8 days post op for a rectocel and perionoscopy, I feel great today yesterday I had bad sickness feeling and headache all day, today my bleeding is brown which I think is old blood now but I have a discharge which is orangey in colour and smells is this normal. Also my stitches feel tender today not a big problem I know but is this normal. I don't feel ill and feel a bit of a fake having all this rest I feel great in myself and shower everyday, bm have been good and not painful thanks to lactalose. My husband is addiment that I rest for at least another week before I go out, I just can not seem to believe how well I do feel. I feel so sad for all you ladies that have trouble as my recovery up to now has been quite good. Anyway sorry for going on but is my trivial problem of discharge and stitches normal in recovery. Hugs to you all xx

Sorry can't help with discharge someone who knows more will come on and advise you. But honestly 8 days is nothing! Rest as much as you can. I am six weeks post op and still resting! Be thankful your husband is so understanding and make the most of it!

Hello lynn. You have a good husband making you rest. He's absolutely right. The problem with this surgery is that pain and discomfort can sometimes get worse after about 3-4 weeks as the sutures tighten so although you feel ok now please be careful and take things easy. You are right, the brown discharge is old blood and the discharge you describe as orangey is almost certain blood mixed with serous fluid, again normal. It may smell a bit because it is coming from the pelvic floor area. Your stitches will feel tender so rest is so important. On the Genitourinary Prolapse home page is some well researched information under the heading Useful Resources. Take a look at the South Tees Information particularly x

Thanks matron you do such a good job of reassuring patients on this forum. Feel better now I know that it's normal and not the start of infection or something. I will take it easy but still makes me feel a little guilty. 💐 flowers for you matron x

Oh lynn that is lovely, thank you. Just be aware though lynn that should you start to feel unwell or get a temperature see or speak to your GP. Infections are rare but I always like to mention this just to be on the safe side. Take care and please don't feel guilty. How often is it women get a chance to rest? xx
