Discomfort / Heaviness right middle abdominal for 5 years

Hi everyone,

I am quite over this pain as no one can explain it, my guts tell me that I have been letting this discomfort go for so long that is just chronique and muscular. But I am interested to know other people's opinions which could give me another track to follow.

Summary :

Unexplained discomfort/ heaviness around the middle right abdominal area for over 5 years.

It might have started after receiving a punch around the middle right abdominal area but never been a certainty.

The discomfort is hard to locate as it sometimes I feel it at the front and sometimes at the back.

History :

-    Male 25 years old , 70kg , 1.70m

-    No health problems

-    Herniated disc when I was 12 years old , resolved with a cast, rarely get back pain

Feeling / Symptoms :

-    Discomfort is 24/7

-    It feels like that size of my body is heavier, tighter and more contracted

-    It feels like the pain could be more muscular than from organs

-    Sleeping on the other side helps stretching it out and makes the discomfort lighter

-    It feels like a big ball is trapped inside of it, it doesn’t move or anything but if I had to compare both sides it feels like the right side is way more inflamed and heavier

-    It sometimes feels like the pain is under the bones and I could scratch it out

-    Right knee sometimes really sore

-     Shoulders very tensed

Test done :

-    Xray and ultrasound of the gallbladder and liver. Only a tiny polyp and a small gallstone showed up, they are that small that they couldn’t cause any pain.

-    I have been to the physiotherapist and they can confirm that side of my body is overcompensated and very tight, it is very hard for them to touch and expand that body part as is extremely sensitive.

-    Hepatitis B tests done and came back negative

-    Liver function tests done and came back good

-    No sign of diabetes

Other informations :

-    Pain seems to be more prominent when sitting for a long period of time

-    Discomfort seems to be heavier when eating a very large meal maybe because it is pressing on the rib cage

Further tests to be done :

    -    Colonoscopy

Have you mentioned the herniated disc problem  to your doctors?  Could this possibly be a problem with the disc again and although its not causing pain or backache could the nerves around your abdomen be interpreting the problem as this heavy sensitive feeling?    Do you know which disc was herniated?

It would be interesting to know what your colonoscopy shows.  Do you have any digestive problems?

      Hi Marina

Thank you so much for you reply.

I have mentioned it but for some reason the doctor I am seeing at the moment seems to be switching off every time I mention anything about muscular pain. I think they do want to rule out the colonoscopy to make sure it isn't something related to organs. If it isn't related to organs then it'll have to be muscular.

Cannot remember which disc at that stage but it was very low on my back , around the bottom area.

I do not have any digestive problems that I am aware of, apart from Milk.

Do you avoid all dairy products as you say you have a problem with milk?

I don't avoid every single one, but I do make sure I eat lactose free food.

Cheese etc doesn't make me feel sick or anything, nor does milk on it's own, but If I had to have sustagen or a protein shake it'll definitely upset my stomach !
