Discomfort in daily activities due to ligament injury.

Hi everyone,

I am a Researcher in biomechanics from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. I would like to enquire about the discomfort faced by patients in day to day activities due to ligament injury. I am dedicated towards the cause of developing a assistive technology for reducing knee pain during daily activities. In my prior work I have designed a low-cost upper limb prosthesis and have also worked on the strain behaviour of dense connective tissue by developing a musculoskeletal model.

Kindly provide suggestions so that we can make life better for patients facing discomfort in their daily activities.

Thank you

Regards

Arnab

I'm 59 years of age and had worn out my cartilage in both my knees, right knee worst than left.

Had at least 12 steroid injection in knees, and could not have anymore as the more you have the less they work.

Went ahead with TKR, although my Consultant said I would get greater pain than someone in their 80s I never realised the pain I would feel. Horrendous........

Now into my 8th month, work out 3 times a week and still the knee gets very stiff, but work through it.

I'm now on Gabepentin to take away the throbbing which I feel all the time. But the tablets work.

Getting on with my life and know that hopefully - up to 18 months possibly (Consultant said) my knee will get back to normal.

I can now play tennis twice a week, only doubles and run a little, but I'll never be able to run fast.

Would I have left knee replaced - not until I'm in my 80 plus

Perhaps by then they will have found a way to build Cartillage by then.

    Best wishes
