Discomfort in thigh when walking has anyone had this before.

I am now seven weeks with severe case of shingles around stomach Back and thigh. My leg feels frozen with pins and needles. Quite painful when I walk . Rash still very red and has some burning pain come and go. This has hindered me to any activity, I can handle maybe walking up to half hour at most. I'm not undermining any others with their suffering as I think the face and eye would be worse. I just wonder if anyone else has had it in same location as mine and appropriately how long before discomfort in walking leaves. Does the rash have to leave first? Thanks

Hey shelia, like you describe, my left side, upper thigh to stomach was swollen. I could tell my lymph nodes in the groin were swollen from the severe pain when I bumped anything. I also have herpes that flare up occasionally and when that happpens, those same lymph nodes are sore. Makes sense because it's in the area that the inflammation is.
Its been like 7 weeks now, you can see where the rash was but there is no more pain or discomfort. My best advise is let the pain be your guide. If walking makes it worse or is uncomfortable, don't do it. Rest is key for sure. Once the rash has ran its course, about three weeks or so, the pain for me lasted another few weeks beyond that.
good luck, hope you feel better soon.

Thank you again for sharing. It gives me some encouragement that this will pass I just seem to be longer than others with both the the rash and discussion discomfort. I can't really call it pain but maybe more of a back and hip ache. A Tylenol helps. I had a day traveling via train one hour. Twenty minute walk and five hours flying and I woke this morning and felt I was in more discomfort than I was three days ago. So I guess I overdid it. So relaxation was today's agenda look forward to the end of this and getting back to my normal return.
