Disheartened before Christmas

I was 4 weeks post op last Wed. For sure I am better without a doubt but I am still in pain and am confused....I cannot walk without my cane. My inciision has healed nicely, feel the golf ball in the back the odd time. I have been doing exercises from operation time daily. When I sit and put my leg out in front I feel this pain shoot down leg or feel pain sitting a certain way on the toilet. WhenI rise from sitting I start out limping quite a bit at first. When I lay and lift my leg straight I have a very hard time but I can do it. I go to physio this Wed. I am walking about 7 minutes at once a day but am up and down steady for over half of the day. Am I not walking enough? We had a snow storm last week so was nervous about joinging a gym. I am very confused of my pain as its not related to incision/golf ball feel. Is this normal to have pain at almost 5 weeks? I appreciate your comments as I have read many but can't find my specific problem.....Merry Christmas to all. I think my family is starting to wonder if I am ever going to get back to normal and am feeling like I am on my own island right now
If you know what I mean.

I'm 8 months out and I still have an achey pain. Sometimes at the top of my hip and sometimes at the top of my thigh. I believe it's just surgical pain. Maybe all the muscles healing and pulling.
Don't push yourself so much because then you overdue it and you'll pay for it later. Take your time and listen to your body. I couldn't lift my leg straight out either at your time because it felt so heavy and caused groin pain and my surgeon told me that if I ever start to have groin pain to stop whatever I was doing.
So don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get there!
Good luck!

That pain you're feeling may be the Psoas muscle, and that isn't a muscle you want to get upset. It helps activities where you raise your knee or lift your leg, and can be quite painful once you aggrivate it - I am trying to settle mine down from physical therapy almost 2 weeks ago now.
Just be aware when you get in and out of bed, chair, a car, or are climbing stairs.. take it slower than you normally would and put some ice on it when you're resting.
It's easy to get discouraged after a month. It seems like forever and you should be walking fine since your scar is mostly healed, but there's still a lot going on.
Chin up, and let your body tell you what it can and can't do, not a therapist or your family/friends =)
