Dislocation

On the fourth day after my THR I fainted and when they got me back into bed my new joint had dislocated.  It was manipulated under anaesthetic.  I am now very wary of fainting again, and sitting or lying down requires a lot of help and care.  I have just come home on the 6th day and my husband is looking after me.  Anyone else been through this?

    Dear Carolyn

That's a new one here, well in the last year or so I think so what incredibly bad luck.

Best wishes for a trouble free recovery. Cheers Richard

Ohh...yes indeed. I had my right hip replaced in September 2015. After 5 weeks at home I started fainting...15 times in the morning. Doctor came to the house and whilst he was on the phone to call an ambulance I fainted in front of him...I was sitting in my new electric chair at the time. I fainted in the ambulance TWICE...and kept fainting in the A&E and was rushed to RESUS...where my heart rate was only 29.!!!...In hospital for a week and loads of different tests and inconclusive!!...dont know to this day why!!!....only one thing is certain...I came off HRT before the operation for six months and maybe hormones not coping with the pain and distress of having the operation...back on the HRT again now the lovest dose available and all OK....The HIP not OK...still physio and have private massage therapy directly on the scar tissue and thigh and it is helping although still using cruch to walk. I am 68 and run a cattery business so need to be on my feet every day, I do have help as Husband now helps every day.

Use Crutch to walk...waiting now to be referred to another Hip surgeon....hope yours will be OK. I have met lots of people who have had hip replacements and walk perfect within 2 - 3 months!!!

Be very very careful- the more time it dislocates, the more difficult each time rectifying the situation, and you do NOT WANT another surgery!!!
