Dismissive ENT..a rant

Hi everyone,
I’ve posted this in the rhinitis group but I think I might get help from here too.
So I have both eczema (my whole life) and allergic rhinitis (for around 8 yrs) and nasal polyps and slightly deviated septum.
It’s quite bothersome to have all these issues (runny nose , facial pain , tears, thick mucus at the back of the throat..etc)
But there is another symptom that has been the worst.
I have this constant cycle of feeling like my ears are full of fluid , and then it will drain and feel dry , and then the feeling of fluid moving would come back..etc until it made me go mad.
I keep telling my doctor about this issue and he did a test (I forgot it’s name) that showed some missing reflexes in my right ear . He then ordered a hearing test that showed my hearing is slightly lower (within normal) in my right ear.
So he dismissed the whole thing.
I saw him today and raised the same issue because it’s been bothering me more lately . He checked my ears and said they’re VERY dry and that I scraped all the wax of off them ! I told him I see water come out of my ear , he said sarcastically that my ears are dry as a dessert! And then he proceeded to tell my how I’m imaging things that aren’t there and that I have no problem with my ears and I should stop complaining!!!
I’m really mad and feel lost ! Because I see the fluid in the tissue and I even showed my mom that was with me at the appointment.
Anyway , I just needed to rant because I really feel crazy

I am convinced that ENT doctors are arseholes and only do things for money. You rarely come across a good ENT doctor. I had to get a full explained and descriptive answer of my GP in regards to my diagnosis because my ENT was an ass and just wanted to get rid of me. I spent 150 on a 10 min appointment just for him to give me a diagnosis and barely answer my questions. Anyways,I would highly recommend that you change doctors. Or maybe check with a good GP. Sometimes theyre more knowledge than specialised doctors ( depends on their overall experience). Advocate for yourself, dont let one a**holes make you feel hopeless. I have spent hundreds just to get answers. Do i regret it ? , no never

I wouldn’t call him an as**** though , he tried to help before ,but the way he jumps to conclusions and just think I’m young and seeking attention makes me mad.
I’m willing to see another ENT and pray for the best.

Perhaps you should get a second opinion and perhaps an MRI scan.
Good luck

My current one is young (I know this is not necessarily a bad thing) but he seems to jumb to conclusions very fast.

Well isint your Doctor just lovely - not! Any chance you can see another Dr., I recently changed mine OMG he is so understanding, the best quote from him to date “you know your own body better than anyone I will be guided by you”. Where as my other Dr., wrote everything off as anxiety, so much so I had an untreated overactive thyroid for 8 months! I’ve often thought if these Doctors walked in our shoes for a day would they be so flippant- doubt it. Everyone on here are so helpful, understanding & all round lovely. Hope you get sorted soon as....
complain away you are amongst fellow suffers here - lol J.

Wow that’s my dream dr lol .
Omg ! That’s horrible , a friend of mine had the same situation as you .. doctors thinking she is acting and she ended up being diagnosed with under active thyroid as well.
Doctors always assume we exaggerate our sysmptoms . And me being young (21) and looking even younger make them treat me as an attention seeker smh. I don’t think I’d be seeking attention when I’m the one suffering.
Thanks for listening-reading lol- this post . I love this site!
