Disposable absorbent underwear/leg swelling

Posted , 5 users are following.

Rose's thread on incontinence pads got me thinking about my own bathroom trips post surgery.  Have come to the conclusion that adult incontinence underwear might be the way to get to the bathroom at my own pace and keep my feet dry. smile

With my leg being swollen (seems to be a universal result from surgical trauma) I am hoping getting the underwear into proper position won't be an issue.  Any personal experiences with getting undergarments, etc. pulled up over the swollen leg?

Have you not got a grabber or long handled shoe horn from the joint school. I use them to put pants on, jogging bottoms etc., The long handled shoe horn is turned over at the top ideal for pulling clothes up with.

Yes, I bought the "hip kit" that includes the grabber, sock helper, etc. on Amazon.  Was concerned if getting clothing over swollen leg was an issue.

I suppose it is how swollen. I have had swelling but not a massive amount, it seems to be getting better the last couple of days. I have found the grabber invaluable, between that, the shoe horn and the crutch (upside down to use the handle) I have managed to pull everything up, standing almost straight.

I bought some ‘reusable net pants’ on Amazon. They worked a treat for me, though my legs weren’t swollen. They were very stretchy, and a pad fitted easily and securely inside. You could wash them and reuse a few times, then dispose of them. They were not expensive. ( I came across them originally in hospital.) Would recommend.

    Dear Hannah

Have you considered buying a female urinal then you can have the same freedom us chaps enjoy or a bottle by the bed to pee into.

    Cheers Richard

      Hannah,

RichardKen's idea is pretty sensible, a slight move on from that. I bought a shewee, as when you go out some toilets are pretty low and we cannot risk sitting on these toilets snd a shewee eliminates that risk.
