Diuretics Problem

I saw my GP on Monday because Ive been having attacks much more frequently. He started me on a diuretic which I was pleased about because Ive heard lots of positive comments about them.
I started taking them on Tuesday morning and by the evening I was spinning, dizzy and nauseous and my balance was off. On Wednesday evening I had the worst attack Ive ever had, My balance completely went, leaving me clinging to the floor, Horrendous vertigo and spinning and violently sick.
Is this normal when starting diuretics? I dont know if I can stand another evening of it.

I would be very surprised if the duretic was the problem. For me they help clear excess water. I take serc 16 daily along with the duretic.

Hello June,
i have been suffering from Meniere’s syndrome for some sixteen years. I had an initial violent attack that lasted of and on for about a week. Went to ENT diagnosed as Miniere’s. Went away for thirteen years. Came back. Lasted two months went away for another year. My last six months have had attacks, sometimes daily. Been searching for some solutions. I found a site with all kinds of great information. This way you can arm yourself with the latest scientific information and make decisions based in that.
It is Medifocus.com. They have a great guide book. Check it out and make up your own mind. Hope this helps some.
Take me care and be informed.
Jim

Hi Jim thanks for recommending Medifocus.com I will have a look at it now. It really helps to find something that gives you lots of information doesn’t it?
I keep hoping that my MD will go into remission for a few years again, it takes over your whole life doesn’t it? It used to scare me too when I was having an attack. I’ve got over that, but I know it scares my husband.

Just checked your other replies.
You need a Consultant review but meanwhile try to get to get your betahistine dose up to your previous maximum and if necessary go higher remembering it takes about 4 weeks to become fully effective. I doubt that Cinnarazine will be that much help for an acute attack. Ask your GP if you can have Buccastem as you can dissolve under your top lip which is very helpful if you are vomitting and unable to keep a normal pill down. I always carry them as part of my 'emergency kit'.
Good luck!
