diverticular disease and rectum prolapse

Posted , 4 users are following.

I had a colonoscopy yesterday as I  believe I have a rectal prolapse and was discharged with nothing on the prolapse even though I know there is something wrong as feel I am sitting on a golf ball so to speak. I did get a new diagnosis though of diverticular disease which has come as a surprise.

Reading  the information about pouches in the bowel I am wondering if this is causing the pressure in my rectum and something popping out which i now know is not a hemroid...

has anyone experience this sort of pressure just inside and outside the anal area.

Hi, So sorry you are going through all this. I had colposcopy November 2016, and got diagnosis of Diverticular disease, polyps, and hemaerroids. I’ve had a couple of flare ups since then, but yes, after an attack on Boxing Day 2017, two days in hospital, 7 days antibiotics for an infection, I suffered those dreadful bearing down pains right deep in my pelvis. I didn’t have your feeling of something popping out, but it was very near to it. The pain started higher up on my left hand side and continued right down. It took several weeks to go away. I hope you are soon better.

    Best wishes

I haven’t been able to sit proper for six months, it’s so uncomfortable.  Thought maybe piles but they didn’t respond to treatment but also thought maybe connected to the prolapses.

i never expected to be told I had Divertícular disease as not really had any symptoms as such. It’s the pressure and soreness inside rectum that bothers me and whatever that is popping out.  No answers yet again so feel like on a roundabout.

Just reread my previous post.  I meant ....colonoscopy....of course! Flipping morphine makes me dopey for most of the evening!

I was in hospital just before Xmas with diverticulitis. I have had prolapses in the past and had surgery. I am experiencing similar thing to you. I also have a fissure. ( that's what doc thinks it is) . I'm going back today as it isn't going away. I am also having back pain. Are you experiencing that? I would go back to doc and let him have a look .

I feel I have never been away from the dr lately. Have had a cystocele and rectocele diagnosed , I will have another referal when the results of colonoscopy comes in.

now have to come to terms with this latest diagnosis as well as 4 new conditions in the upper G I.

The diverticulosis is usually not a problem until it becomes diverticulitis, which is when one of them gets infected. Probably need to see a gynaecologist to see if there is pressure coming from  one of the pouches making your prolapses worse. I've had those prolapses. Very uncomfortable. I've got the bladder one back now. It has got worse after the diverticulitis infection, and I think that was pressure because my bowel was very swollen and I haven't got a uterus in between bowel and bladder. ( hysterectomy) .

Sounds very similar to my problem as I also do not have a uterus so nothing supporting vital bits.   I wonder if the pouches are causing the feeling of prolapse rather than the rectocele itself..

I am having my cystocele checked out next week and I will be asking same question. It makes sense to me that this would happen. It's all in same area after all .
