Diverticulitis at bottom of esophagus nausea

Posted , 2 users are following.

34 male , non smoker or drinker . recently had a barium swallow test . They found a small diverticulitis at the bottom of my esophagus. Of the past 4 weeks I have experienced nausea , dull pain in the area between your pecks that dips down in chest .” The area that doctors press in to feel for tenderness “ . Guessing it’s called your upper abdomen . It has caused me to loose weight . I do not have pain while I eat , and I don’t throw up . I saw a ent because I have been clearing my Throat a lot and had a globus feeling . Turned out it was just allergies / post nasal drip and or acid reflux . But the anxiety has gotten to me in the past few weeks . Blood test came back good , barium swallow was perfectly fine , and nasal scope was good . Only thing I haven’t had done is endoscope . Didn’t know if anyone out there has had similar symptoms as me ? I am on Zoloft now , they did have me on ppi which made everything worst I felt . The nausea seems to be a lot in the morning . I feel like these forums are more informative then doctors . I didn’t know if the diverticulitis could cause paid or issues affecting my stomach . I could possibly even have ulcers ? Didn’t know if those would show up in a Barium swallow ? Any help would be greatly appreciative. Everyone around me thinks it’s in my head and my anxiety are causing these issues.

I had never heard of this, so looked it up. My diverticula are in the colon. Yours is apparently a very rare condition. You might be best advised to Google "Esophageal Diverticulum: Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatment " like I did. I think that as it is a medical paper, it might give you the information you are seeking

      Thanks for the reply .

My doctor claims the diverticulitis is very small and not to be concerned with, radiologist claims the same thing . Supposed been there for awhile and haven’t caused any symptoms . Told to keep a eye on it with age and time . But there has to be answers to why I feel the way I do . I am loosing weight from nausea and not feeling good . Hopefully I can book a endoscopy this week .

      hey maybabe ,

Thanks for your reply . Today was pretty bad just a mild pain in the middle of chest "i guess abdomen area " associated with lots of nausea all day and night . my upper back hurts also . not sure if its caused from laying in the bed for long periods and looking at my phone , or a issue with that area . It’s keeping me from eating which is making me feel worst . I am glad you went to the ER and figured out what’s going on . Hopefully I can have a endoscopy this week to get some answers . Did they put you on medicine ?
