Diverticulitis - new issues

Posted , 4 users are following.

I just had a bout with diverticulitis and now 2 weeks later its recurring. I no longer feel the sharp pains and haven't for a couple of years. I do lose my appetite, i get the shivers, constipated and bloated with gas. As you may know the gas is foul when i burp. This time though i have been extremely sleepy. I literally fall asleep while working at my desk. Has anyone else experienced this? i have another colonoscopy coming up in the next 60 days and i'm actually worried. My old remedies are no longer working. I used to drink lots of warm to hot water for a few days, which would help..but thats no longer the case...its taking longer for symptoms to vanish. Also my attacks have been more frequent, one every 2-4 months...any information is appreciated. Thank you

    Hi Diver,

Were you diagnosed with DV? Perhaps if you gave a few more details to your condition, your daily diet, any treatment you've received, etc.

Yes, i was diagnosed 7 years ago. That led to a colonoscopy where they located 3 pouches. the past couple of days i have woken up throughout the night bloated with gas, either having to burp it out or let work its way out the other end. i have had the shivers but not much of a fever if at all. i eat half or less of my usual. Today i had warm cream of wheat for breakfast, water throughout the day and a ham sandwich for dinner. Yesterday i had cream of wheat in the morning, ran an errand around lunchtime and picked up a 3 piece dinner of Bojangles fried chicken (this was eaten for lunch and the remaining was dinner). i do drink milk but have been sticking to the A2 brand or fairlife. i dont eat properly and not always the healthiest of eaters.

      Diver,

any smoking or drinking? Your eating habits if changed could largely change your situation. What is your age?

Colonoscopy will tell-all. It's a good thing you have one scheduled 😃

      Best,

      Daniel

Have you taking antibiotics ? Could the sleeping so much be from possible poor diet or any other causes or side affects from any meds you might be on?
