Hi, I had a surgery and removed my sigmoid and descending colon due to diverticulitis, Its been 3 weeks and everything is ok except for feeling the Gases when they pass through the anastomosis place?! is this normal to feel the gases and stool when they pass through the lower part where the anastomosis was performed and for how long this will then go away? thanks

Is it painful? Or just noticeable?
I had an emergency surgery for this that resulted in a temporary colostomy til I can be reconnected in October, and 5 months later I still get "phantom" feelings, like when my stool is about to go in the bag it feels like I need to poop at my rectum (sometimes so much I need to sit on the toilet).
I have heard everyone is different with how long their brain recognizes phantom pain or sensations, I'd be very interested to hear more specifically what you feel if you don't mind?
