DIY Home Treatment Actually Worked

The past few days my symptoms really flared up. I don't take topical steroids because they don't seem to treat the root cause and they make everything down there more sensitive. I generally don't eat wheat because it seems to flare up my symptoms, but I sort of went on a gluten spree the last week and I think that's what caused the major flare up. Anyway, because I was suffering so much, I tried a natural treatment twice a day and omg it actually worked (not a cure, but itchy, uncomfortable symptoms are gone now!)
I mixed one cup of water with a 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, and 2 drops of tea tree oil. I soaked a menstrual pad in the mixture and wore it for about 20 minutes twice a day.
Two days ago I was in severe discomfort and today I feel nothing. Phew! Just wanted to share it case it works for anyone else.

That's great that you have found something that seems to work for you!!! I'm sure other people will try this.
With regard to Gluten, what I found when I initially went gluten free, (and I wasn't particularly serious about it at the time), was that i could occasionally "cheat" and although I wouldn't feel too great afterward it wasn't a big deal. However, it appears the longer you go gluten free the more severe the reaction is, and I now find myself unable to cheat, as last time I had such a severe reaction.
I just thought I would mention that as I am sure other gluten free folks will know this, and maybe this is what happened to you.

I've just talked to a small artisan producer about food and intolerances, and he said that if you have no gluten at all for six months you can actually make yourself intolerant. I'd not heard this before and haven't checked it up, but that could account for it. He said that a regular small amount was needed for your gut to recognise it and understand how to deal with it - unless you are coeliac which is a different thing altogether.
His take on gluten intolerance is that there are so many additives in prepared products that your body is having to cope with things you really shouldn't be eating. Bread is the one thing that you should be prepared to spend good money on to get a decent product. Go to an artisan baker (he wasn't a baker in case this sounds like an advert) and buy bread that has nothing but flour, water yeast or sour starter, and salt in it, plus seeds or whatever flavour it is.
You probably didn't want to hear that, and it is just one opinion, but I thought I'd put it out there for others to follow up if they are interested. I make my own bread since my son had a severe intolerance when he was young. We cured it, it took a few years of careful eating and knowing what went into everything, and have never had a problem with gluten since. He only reacted to bought products which was very telling for me.
