Oh, I hated topomax, that stuff was awful and actually made the dizziness more constant for me. I can understand your frustration, I have been going through it for just over a year and didn't get a diagnosis at all until end of September. Have you been diagnosed with anything or are you still seeing specialists to narrow it down?

So have you only seen an ENT or have you seen a neurologist? Have you had an MRI or x rays done? Also, do you have any past history of neck problems? It can be as simple as always sore and achy to a past car accident or injury.

Hi alison........Yeah I feel the same way about migraines since they say I have vestibular migranes........as far as I was told it can come from ear or brain.....DONT LOSE FAITH......I just started doing some of my vestibular exercises which seems to be helping.........but in my mind we still dont know root of problem and honestly I feel my doctor is guessing now....the meds were working and now they seem to be wearing off to some degree.....some days are really not good........dr put in for a cervical MRI......another ent on ddec 30th....all I want to do is go get my nails and toes done and not think about this anymore

Just to put it into perspective, it turned out after more than 10 months of testing and medications that a simple x ray revealed that I had lost 40 degrees of curve in my neck so my C1/atlas was putting pressure on my brain stem and by proxy the cerebellum (that's your balance and motor skills go figure) and this was visible on the CT scan, the MRI and the second MRI with MRAs that I did but thats not the kind of thing that neurologist look for. I could have been diagnosed in the first month had it been something they look for so you may want to get the opinion of a chiropractor or even a regular, medical doctor or a medical massage clinic with that same information about your c5.

I was mad that no one bothered looking at it before but I was so relieved that I could stop all the medication wreaking havoc on my body that I let it go.

Oh yes, I remember all the tests and blood work over 10 months, all of which came out just fine. I got diagnosed at the end of September with a treatment plan of 3 months of the following: 3 chiropractic adjustments per week, 2 massage thereapy sessions per week and 1 physical therapy appointment per week. However, I am unable to start until next week as my company's peak season is October through December. However, I have been doing 1 chiropractic adjustment and 1 massage therapy session once a week to help manage it in the meantime as it turned out I was a more severe case then they first thought and there was one day per week where we had enough staffing for me to leave a little early and get these treatments. I started them at the end of September and didn't notice any changes in my symptoms at first but then in mid November we finally turned a corner and I started noticing a difference in the frequency of my symptoms each day. I'm glad that I started going once a week before my treatment starts because I think I will get more out of the aggressive schedule if I'm already showing improvement before we start.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear of your despair....this condition does get you down and I think it's because you have no control over anything. Then when it leaves you for a few hours you think you must have made it up because I know when my attacks were at there worst I thought there is no way I can survive this and then it's gone....it plays on your mind! I am still suffering with attack 23 years on but you learn to live with it and adjust your life accordingly...

Hi Linda, I totally agree with you.  Now that all 6 doctors say what it's not I will just keep doing what I do.  I think part of this is the Lord teaching me how to slow down *L*.  And you kno, I'm kind of liking it *L*.  I was 70 on 12/6 but I have a 24/7/365 business in my home that I've had for 37 yrs.  None of it keeps me from doing the job.  I could actually work it from bed if I had to....as long as my mind hangs in there *L*.,  Of course there are some who say that's already happened *L*.  I hate hearing that you've had it 23 yrs.  But it shows me that is a distinct possiblity and I need to work with it.  Thank you for the information *HUG*,
