Dizziness and vertigo a common symptom?????

Hello,

I am a 26 year old male and i was diagnosed with fibro last year after a battery and months of tests. I have pain all over my body and it never goes away. this is common and im learning to live with it.

what im not sure is common is my new symptoms of dizziness or vertigo feelings. its been going on a month now, most of the time creeps up on me late at night i get really light headed and feel faint. this morning i woke up and turned over in bed and the room spun until i got out of bed.. I know its not a brain tumor or anything as ive had extensive scans on my brain and neck as this seems to be my main and most severe pain areas. My heart also scanned many times.

Are these normal fibro symptoms? I stay well hydrated and the only meds im on are cymbalta for pain but ive been on for a year with no side effects.

does anyone have this? know why i could be having it? any tips?

cheers, Tim

    Hi

I have all your symptoms except the excessive dizziness I have been taking

hemp oil 20% strength for a while now and it does seem to help with the pain

    Hope this helps

Are you sure you have no side effects to the Cymbalta? I see dizziness is listed as one!

Do you ever take OTC painkillers e.g. Ibuprofen, aspirin etc? Cymbalta can interact with these and also other medicines (including some herbal) so it may be a good idea to check.

but i havent had sideeffects in a year can they just come back out of no where?

When you say 'come back' do you mean you had side effects to Cymbalta previously?

I don't actually know much about Cymbalta but I saw dizziness listed. That was all.

Hi Tim, sorry to hear you are suffering with dizziness but you are not alone. i too suffer a vast range of symptoms although i have fibromyalgia, cfs and underactive thyroid. I have dizziness, tinnitus, get recurrent sinus infections and am a migraine sufferer. it is worth having your ears and balance checked but some fibro sufferers do have dizziness and balance issues too - mine is made worse as i have severe degenerative disct disease but then i am a great deal older than you. take care x

    Hi Tim

unfortunately dizziness is part of fibromyalgia, I get this most mornings as soon as I open my eyes, I have to lay in bed until it stops then sit on the edge of the bed until its ok for me to stand up, otherwise I'm all over the place and its quite scary. just take your time when your having an episode.

I did have a bout of this a day after I was put on ametryptaline (misspelled I know). I was told to go off them immediately. Further down the track they discovered I have lost the balance in one ear. I do have to avoid getting fluid in that ear. I get sinus, so I have to use all sorts to avoid fluid build up in that ear now or I will be flying through space every time I move my head for about a month.

No further mention was ever made about a possible link, but I did find a possible link on the internet many years ago.

I do hope your problem is something minor and will go away.

Ive had an interesting development on this! A few weeks ago i realized ive started gaining weight since the cymbalta. not a ton and not enough to have it not be worth it. I changed my diet and switched to diet soda (i drink to much sugary soda)... I had a friend tell me 2 days ago astpertaime gives him migraines and dizzy spells! so i stopped drinking them and so far i havent had any dizziness! i am hoping it will be as simple as that. the timeline fits!

    thanks for everyones input.

Aspartame has been linked with causing seizures and also possibly causing cancer! It's a big no-no for many people so you did well to spot the connection. With fibro and many degenerative diseases (and nobody really knows exactly what fibro is, after all), a healthy diet is a very big key. Eating a clean diet with no fake additives, chemicals, colourings and preservatives will be doing your body a favour as it has to work hard to deal with what are technically poisons. Sugar is best avoided but sweeteners (e.g. aspartame) should be avoided as well. (Honey is natural and has medicinal properties!).
