Dizziness, Balance issues, Vertigo

So I am on week 12 now of dizzy spells/ vertigo. I was fine one day and we traveled to some friends house in Abalene TX. I woke that next morning and stumbled around. I thought I was dehydrated or hungover. I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. I have been a fitness trainer for 7 years now and ate pretty healthy. I have had blood test, hormone tests, ear exams, vertigo manuevers done, MRI. Everything has come back fine. Since week 4 I have cut out all gluten, peanuts, soy, rice, corn, caffiene (made the pressure in my head too much) and very limited alcohol (1 glass of wine with my wife every friday night). Antivert did nothing, and I have found nothing to relieve the dizzy symptom.

This has led me down a path of research, and I am lost. I feel my balance portion of my inner ear is off hecause I feel like I am bouncing all day, my workouts make it worse, and when I try a 1 leg balance test, I almost fall over to my right every time. My body just folds in half when I try this.

I see a Neurologist on monday and hope he can shed some light. I have had good days and bad days, and try to pin point triggers, but there seems to be many. The mornings are rough, and this feels like I have lost my identity and dont know what to do.

Has anyone had any similar experience? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Adam

Could be an ear issue, maybe you should see an ENT. Could also be vestibular Migraines.

      Hi Adam

Sorry you're suffering so long...been there. I had VN or vestibular neuritis for 2 years. I felt drunk all the time, had pressure at the back of my head and felt at times i was being pushed forward. I had fullness and pain in my ears, pain in my neck and felt very fatigued. When I walked, it felt like I was on a boat or a moving dock. I had some nausea but it wasn't severe. It was nasty and I wondered if I would ever be rid of it. As a result, I was very anxious.

      Do you feel like this?

Yes Debbie, that sounds very similar to my day. Do you still have it? Could you find any relief for the feeling of being on a boat? Thanks for your reply!

No, i no longer have it! Two things helped me:

Vestibular Rehab: exercises given by a vestibular therapist to retrain the brain

Low dose of antidepressant which controls anxiety and the dizzies: Ciprolex 10 mg

Hey Debbie, is there a place I can go to look up the Vest. Rehab movements?

Thank goodness! I haven't seen a specialist yet as the public health system here turned me down :-( said I wasn't "high case" so I have to pay to go privately and it's $400 to see the ENT and $595 for the dizzy centre! I'm finally seeing an ENT on Monday and will be refered to the dizzy centre too (they do all the testing and VRT). I actually believe a lot of my issues are anxiety based now as it's been so long and I get worried I will never recover. So thank u for ur encouragement. Gives me a lot of hope
