Dizziness due to stopping HRT

I am 59, was on HRT for 5 years, began tapering gradually earlier this year. But within 2 months had horrible bouts of dizziness, crying jags, and irritability. Returned to normal HRT dose, still didn't feel right, so doc told me to increase dose, which made me feel worse. Back to original dose but dizziness and crying remains on and off over past few months. Feels exactly how I felt when I was pregnant!!! UGH!! Ob/gyn tells me to stay the course. Has anyone else suffered with dizziness?? Thinking I should feel "normal" again since I am back on my original dose. But is this the result of adjusting my dose too often in a 6 month period? Anyone else suffer with dizziness? How long before I can expect to feel "normal" again??

Hi Elizabeth, I get giddy. Started change at 39, now 57, been on and off HRT for years. I won't stop until I feel 'normalish' which isn't yet unfortunately. Hot sweats and low libido are my worse thing. I have breaks and then go back on. Regards Kathy

Thanks for your replies! When I did start the taper back in January, I followed my ob/gyn's advice and only cut one pill in half for one of the 7 days of the week, continued that regimen for a few weeks, then picked one additional day to cut a pill in half, etc. It was a very slow taper, but I was later told by a different doctor that I was tapering too fast! I am EXTREMELY sensitive to hormone fluctuations ( my one and only pregnancy consisted of daily dizziness and nausea, with intermittent bouts of vomiting, for the first 8 months!) so I am just assuming that the going off and going back on will impact me longer than most...UGH. I am back on my regular dose of estradiol and progesterone now and have been for the past 8 weeks, but body still discombobulated. I was diagnosed with CLL (chronic leukemia) last year. No treatment needed yet, which is good, but I am sure my horrendously high white blood cell count is not doing me any favors either! Anyone out there with CLL and struggling with going off/back on HRT?
