Dizziness for 3 weeks not getting better

I'm a 65 year old female and over the last year I have had a few bouts of dizziness/lightheaded which lasted a day or so but the latest one has lasted for 3 weeks and isn't getting better. I would describe it as the same as feeling very drunk. I've seen a GP 4 times. The first one thought it was an inner ear infection and gave me antibiotics. The second one sent me to have the wax suctioned out of my ears. The third time I had more antibiotics and the fourth one finally gave me something which controlled the nausea and said he thought it was an inner ear problem which would get better with time. I feel a lot worse first thing in the morning and almost back to normal by the time I go to bed. I'm able to do very little and am tired all the time. My next GP appointment is 10 days away.

Find an experienced cervical chiropractor and evaluate your neck. It may be a cause.

    Good luck.

Go to an ENT and Neorologist/neurontologist.  GP/PCP have no clue how to handle this. There are many disorders-meniers, labyrinthitis, Vestibular neuritis, Vestibular migraines, BPPV.  They have no idea.  Find a specialist that specializes in Vestibular issues. Nyla should get an MRI and cat scan to rule out other issues.  Don't wait the few weeks to get better-most people on this forum have had to advocate for themselves because their disorders were misdiagnosed or just ignored by their doctor and told you will get better with time.  I was diagnosed 3x with different things until I started to get better and only started to get better because I advocated for myself and asked to try different treatments.  Go to the pharmacy and get over the counter mecclizine to help with the dizziness-see if it works.  There are physical therapists that specializes in Vestibular issues. Research the disorders I listed and see if your symptoms match any of them. A lot of them mirror each other- but get to that specialist

Hopefully, I've found out what is causing this, low blood pressure. I was given antibiotics for an inner ear infection. This was a 2 week course of Clarithromycin, 2 x 250mg twice a day. Because I was still experiencing dizziness, although my temperature was now normal, I was prescribed Doxycycline for 7 days. Because these upset my stomach, I was then prescribed Metoclopramide. I have suffered from high blood pressure all my adult life but have it well under control and take 32mg candersartan each day. I had been monitoring my blood pressure but it now appears that my home machine was giving me an inaccurate reading. My BP is normally around 140/75. On Sunday I felt so ill, not only dizziness but bleared vision and breathlessness. I went to A&E where my blood pressure was 115/50. So I did not take a blood pressure tablet that evening. The next day I saw my GP and my blood pressure was 115/70 and I did feel much better. My GP has advised me to not have any medication for a week and to monitor my blood pressure (I have a new monitor on order). It would appear to me that either the antibiotics or a combination of the antibiotics and Candersartan caused a big drop in blood pressure. I'd love to know if anybody else has experienced this?
