Have been dizzy free for 5 weeks now just left with lightheaded feeling most of the time and and get very glassy eyed when this occurs

seems the more i move about the worse it is

if i drive my car all seems ok untill i stop then i seem abit lightheaded or not quiet right

anybody else have these symptoms?

My doctor seems to think i may now have sinus issues after 1st being diagnosed with labrynthitus and BPPV

or possible visual migraine

I think hes just guessing now!!

same here, getting out of the car makes me feel unsteady, think it's bending my head down to avoid hitting the door frame and swinging round to the side to get my legs out.  My ENT said after the initial BPPV i probably had MAV, migraine associated vertigo, you can have it without headaches and just the visual problems and put me on a special diet to avoid all caffeine, cheese, red wine etc.,

Thats interesting sounds like mine.......did he give you any medication for it ?

is it common to be left with MAV after BPPV?

I don't know, i think he was just clutching at straws, cos the diet made no difference when i cut everything out.  I always just think, like a computer, something has gone on my hardrive and i need a rebootsmile

The doctors really don't seem to know much about this condition at all,as they certainly are unable to cure it in my case.

I have been in bed all day today as Iam alone and get too frightened to go anywhere without company.

consequently I have become a hermit and am missing out on social activities, and am getting increasingly depressed as my everyday life has come to a stop.

i have the same symptoms as you,but strangely enough can drive without feeling dizzy, but what is the point if when you arrive at the destination you cannot function properly for feeling  dizzy.

So difficult to explain to anyone who does not suffer with this,as I don't look particularly unwell.

There are very few days that I feel well enough to go anything of note.

    i sympathise with you.

I agree wendy, to all intents and purposes i look normal.  The one person who seemed to understand was a consultant where i work, when i told him i had a balance disorder he said 'that will affect every aspect of your life'.  I knew he understood.

I know exactly how you feel Wendi I ve suffered for six years,I first started with dizziness and nausea, for the first year I was throwing up all the time, then it levelled off into the off balance not feeling right,it was slowly affecting my life as the years went by I did less and less socially, because I was either being sick or just felt so unwell I didn t feel like getting dressed up and having a good time.Last year I suddenly seemed to start feeling a lot better,I was getting to walk the dog going out socially a bit more,I really thought I d cracked it,only to wake one morning in March with spinning vertigo,I couldn t walk I couldn t even sit up it was that bad,I was bed ridden for three days.i had vertigo for weeks, then it changed to the familiar, swaying off balance feeling.i m gutted that it's all come back,I feel like I climbed a mountain only to be pushed back down it again.

i m a wife and mother of two girls and it's ruined all our lives,as much as I try I m not the same person I was,and I m scared I never will be.i ve every test and x ray and the doctors have no idea, they look at me and tell me I  have to just get on with it,they give me tablets for the sickness and put me on anti depressants, which turned me into a zombie,I came off them and had horrible withdrawl symptoms!!

My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering it is a cruel condition to have, partly because no one understands

i hope 2015 is a better year for us all.

Yes  I have had that for Four years, moving around aggravates it, but it is worse when I stop.  I have been on that route with Audiologist saying it was MAV the migraine thing Anne mentions) and wasting basically a year of my life as the Meds made it worse so couldn,t take, or,they want to put you on Amiltryptoline that has horrible, side affects and is basically an anti depressant. I agree with you that he is guessing   also for Anne. Cutting out dairy is good as it causes congestion and I did that myself ages ago, still have vertigo, haven,t drunk alcohol same period of time, still got vertigo. Caffeine only occasionally, but I still have vertigo.  I really believ until you get away from ENT,s and  see proper specialists for Vestibular problems, you,ll never get anywhere

When you say vertigo i assume you mean real bad dizziness and balance problems not just lightheaded?

my 'dizzieness' has never been spinning. More swaying and disequilibrium. Bug Sid that I do also get light headedness, especially when I m tired.  By vertigo, I mean the symptoms of he  above

Sorry problems with this site again, can't go back and correct, as I was saying.... But having said that,I' do get light headedness too, especially when I am tired, when I have been on this screen too much, or read the paper too long (or half an hour will do,it!), I will feel light headed, nauseous wven. And often don,t have dinner as can,t stomachs it when Feeling this way.  by vertigo, which are the symptoms  of whatever is causing this, I mean the swaying, disequilibrium etc.

Gillian, i typed you a long answer and it all disappeared off the screen.  I can't retype it all again as need to get off for a bath, but just to say, I agree.  Every part of the diet i gave up made no difference.  Still got it.

Feel the same, have to force myself to eat as I don't enjoy meals any more.Noisy restaurants are OUT.Cinema and theatres are a struggle and agree about eating.Have no appetite any more. All in all it is a pain, because although it is not there ALL the time,it is enough to disrupt my life.

worst part is being alone and fearful that I might pass out,but thankfully in the two years I have suffered with this,I have not.

have stayed in bed today as I could not face getting up.sJust don't feel well enough,

Oh what a shame, I know that feeling as it's happened to me.  This site is like me it gets tired at night and does lots of silly things like wiping out posts!  But yes on. The diet thing, the only thing I still do is the dairyn,no cheese or milk, but I do still have goat's butter.  Also  goat or sheeps cheese I find less mucousy.   I feel everything in moderation is fine as it is not food that causes this for most of us, I agree with Darren who m,entioned some time ago that it is like nerve damage, and they know they can't repair that, so fob us off. I have yet to find anyone who has actually got or had MAV! And even if theyhave it is obviously quite rare, and our problem is more common. Probably the dreaded virus that caused the damage!

Hi Anne was going to post you see how things were going and to say how Darren was going on ,looking better for him ,so that's a result so far so good ,sorry you've had fair bit on your plate on top of everything you've got going on ,only adds on more stress ,but you couldn't avoid what's happened .

I'm going to get another thyroid check done ,I can't believe someone out there can't help us with this balance ,it's every day all day ,Travis is doing bit better .did you read her post ,her anxiety better to .

Gill's got them weighed off to not helping any of us struck down with this condition ,she's gone through fair share of Drs  Hsp etc she's still the same ,we all know it's not our eyes ,all had numerous eye test ,all come back zilch ,I've done the coffee, cheese butter etc still fat zero .

What I don't get is why so many getting it ? There's got to be a common cause Virus started mine .i know that for definate .got the tinnitus and rhinitis from it to .Going to now look up what was told Darren ,I know diets not changed anything  I'm fine when driving ,just this walking ( trying ) I only use a trolley can't do just a basket when shopping impossibility .

When are you back to work ,or have you already been working ? Think of you and Darren ,I'd be on my knees for sure .Have you tried Floxedine ? XX

Hi Marlen, i won't be taking any more meds that i have to as already on the pain relief for trapped nerve in shoulder/neck.  I don't get on with antidepressants as once tried them and they turned me into a zombie but great if they're helping others.

      Thanks for your kind wishes.

      Happy New Yearsmile

Anne didn't realise you still had that shoulder going ,that's been fair while ,you've got fair bit going  that hit in car not helped ,my cousin ,got hit up backside ,last year to ,and my next door neighbour this year also ,both male drivers hit them .my neighbour hurt her neck as did my cousin .

They speed most blokes ,my girl got hit year before a bloke again ,she knew he wasent going to stop ,going to fast he was .Its the reprocess ions to the likes of yourself that ends up in far worse mess .not the ones who hit you that's the Gauling bit of those speeders not paying attention Anne .all have had to have physio for the neck.

Antidepressants don't suit me ,they're definate no go for my tinnitus ,so I just have Bach rescue on stand by ,B6 is good ,but they don't like me .Give them a try Anne if not had before ,you may have said ,me and brain fog with sinuses .

Hope your have a good night wether out or in .were work this out one way or another .God Bless xx

it was a female who hit us up the backside, guessing she was on her mobile and didn't see us when she turned into the road.  I had a student nurse in the car with me at the time.  Later she was taken to A&E on  a stretcher with neck pain etc. I had whiplash to the front of my neck due to the seat belt when we were shunted forwards which has resolved now.  I seriously need to find another pain relief as think the Naproxen is really making my balance/blurred vision worse.

I bought some vitamins but they are so huge i'm worried i'll choke on them trying to swallow them as i'm not great at swallowing big tablets, so have to break them up which possibly makes them less effective as they have a plastic coating.  Anyway i'll go back to my gp and see if there is another pain relief with less side effects.

      God Bless you too Marlene.
