Dizziness, Increased heart rate

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had initially posted due to thinking I may have been suffering from anxiety or panic attacks.

Feeling dizzy for about 5 days now. And sudden increases in heart rate with a feeling I'm about to die or have a heart attack.

Tests done at hopsital everything okay.

Saw doctor this morning and she said it sounded like Vertigo and put me on some anti-sickness tablets.

The diziness matched what I've read about Vertigo, but I generally feel fine apart from that. Is it normal to have accompnying episodes of panic etc?

And if it is Vertigo how long will it last?

Cheers

Sam

Hi Sam! Yes I know what you mean about the sudden heart rate increase and I've gone to bed with it a few times wondering if I'll be alive in the morning.

it is a very horrible scary sensation but you are definitely not alone.

mine can go anything from a couple of days to a couple of months.

i have been told that my particular vertigo BPPV is typically meant to last a few days and they are not too sure why it drags on.

Hi Sam. Yes sounds perfectly normal to me. I have exactly the same. Racing heart and very anxious., i think the more anxious you are with the dizzyness the more it makes your heart race. I am now learning how to control this which has helped a little. Its all very frightning when all this dizziness starts. I have had it since end of september, it went for couple of weeks but came back again. Have they given you exercises to do? Hope you get better very soon. XX

I'll chime in as well:  My personal feeling - very similar to what has been written below, is that the anxiety is caused by the fact - the excruciating fact - that we are getting our whole world perception ROCKED, 24/7.  I have been fortunate in that I have only had two days (out of 75±) where this occurred.  I closed my eyes and did a meditation I do regularly, slowed my breathe down . . . and smiled !  This too shall pass.  Our problem, whilst we're in it, is that it does not feel that way.

And, yes, it is Vertigo that is causing the fear within  (ego) and not the other way around.  AND, I have not heard, read, or experienced anyone who really knows too much of anything as to what we are going through !!  Sorry for your fear.

    Hi sam00437

I'm having the exact same symptoms. I was driving on Friday when it felt as if the world was spinning and I thought I was going to pass out. I went to the ER and the Dr said it was due to vertigo. I dried to drive Monday and started feeling dizzy but I think it was due to the Dramamine and Anxiety. I went to the Dr they put me on bed rest until I see a heart and ear Dr. I've been feeling every symptom that you've been feeling.

    Feeling Frustrated
