dizziness question -- brain tumor?

Hello all,

I have a question about my dizziness that started about 3 months ago (it's end of July 2017 now). It goes away for a couple of days and then comes back suddenly and just sweeps in. It is not there every day, but on the days that I feel dizzy it kind of comes and goes throughout the day. I am much better when sitting. Muscles in my shoulders are extremely sore. Sometimes my neck will hurt. Sometimes I will have a headache. Going to the gym (cardio) usually helps. I have been able to tie it back to working out with weights. I feel like I tense up my muscles when I lift ( I DON’T LIFT A LOT) and maybe that's why I get dizzy in the days that follow.

I am currently afraid that I might have a brain tumor. With a brain tumor, would symptoms come and go? Waiting for an appt with a neurologist would take about 2 months. Having an MRI -- forget about it -- takes them forever. Wanted to hear from other people suffering from dizziness.

Thank you!

The testing is important. It rules out things and defines the problem. Unfortunately a cat scan and/or MRI is usually in the list of tests. It not only rules out tumors but also strokes, calcification of blood vessels etc etc.

Forgot to mention usually your gp orders the mri. It's better that way. Then you don't have to pay for or wait for 2 neurologist apps. If the neurologist has no test results to look at, the app will be a simple reflex app. Then he will order the MRI. Not sure where you are but sometimes your gp can get you into a MRI faster. Then if the MRI shows nothing a neurologist app probably isn't needed. A ENT or neurotologist is needed.

I definitely would get a MRI... I know it takes a long time... but you'll wish you made that appointment..just make the appointment, you don't have to go... the neurologist will probably order one anyways..... good luck Coral 🏝
