Hi guys, I've been suffering from the following, I'm hoping someone has a clue: Sleep apnea comes and go, with the following symptoms:crawling sensation in the head, Dizzeness and vertigo at times, all test came back with no problems, except a bit of high Ammonia level (liver test showed everything is normal). Any what that might be causing these symptoms?

Thank you,

Hi. My husband suffers from apnea.  Side effect of this is fluctating blood pressure.  Might need your bp monitored.  Anxiety also causes these sensations.  I know I have them

I think you might be right....it's just i'm the anxious type. although tingling in my right arm comes back as soon as i'm having the other symptoms. I was sent to every specialist out there.....two things that came back positive, sleep apnea and high Ammonia.

Not sure if you are still dealing with this, but I have similar symptoms. However, I think I am finally getting some answers. Have had the MRI, blood tests, etc...(all normal), but I am now seeing a Functional doctor who thinks I have Upper Obstructive Sleep Apnea due to being 'tongue tied'. She recommended a Myofunctional Therapist who I will be working with for the next year. Going in next month to have the frenulum lazered (cut) and with help from the Myofunctional therapist, some vitamins and medicine for my thyroid, I feel positive that I will see results. Good luck!

How do you know you have sleep apnea?  Have you had a sleep study done?  During the sleep apnea episodes, does your blood oxygen fall (seen in a sleep study if done)? The exact nature of the possible sleep apnea may help in answering your questions.

Yes I did couple of sleep studies....I do have a mild sleep apnea, it does get worse at time.Things that I noticed it does get worse when I eat lot of protein (especially fish)....also i feel mucus coming either from my stomach or chest and that what cause my sleep apnea. I consider myself athletic and healthy but this is driving my crazy so are the doctors.

If I may, I have more specific questions with regards to the sleep apnea.  Did the physicians tell you what type of sleep apnea you have (obstructive, central or mixed)?  During the sleep studies, did the oxygen in your blood fall to low levels?  When we say mild, do we mean that you have a low number of sleep apnea episodes per hour, or that that the apnea episodes happen only when you sleep on your back?

Obstructive apnea, and my oxygen level dropped a bit (not much). Episodes happeen mostly while sleeping on my back.

BusT what's driving me crazy is the vertigo episodes during the day and the numbess of my left arm. One vertigo episode was a near fainting one. I was rushed to the ER, they found nothing. When it happened I felt like my body was shutting off, I got so cold and weak. A paramedic was very close check my blood pressure and again nothing.

From my end, I find it difficult to seperate away the history of sleep apnea from your vertigo and left upper limb numbness, in case the latter are due perhaps to low oxygen episodes in the brain, or all three are due to a common cause in the brain (I am sorry to be frank, but you are asking and you want to know).  The left upper limb numbness is waving a red flag at me.  You need to see a neurologist to put all three together.

The neurologist said I'm perfectly fine, brain MRI was good. Is more of a tingling sensation in my left arm.

One night I woke up and I felt as of my left side of my head was numb due to no bloodbreaching up there, after sitting up all went back to normal.

Hey i just saw these posts..... everything you talk about is how I felt for the past 3 months. I'm getting a sleep study done tomorrow, hoping for some answers. Eeg fine Mri fine etc.... I always feel dizzy and feel like I'm rocking on a boat which causes anxiety and has been ruining my life. It started 3 months ago when i went on a trip to Chicago. It started the day after I landed and 3 months later I still feel the same. Hoping you are feeling better and got some answers about what was causing it. I hope you see this ??Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Wow. This sounds a lot like me. I've had vertigo on and off for the past few years. I've also had acid reflux. I've been

Checked several times as to why I have vertigo, but the find nothing. Benign positional vertigo they say. Just recently infound out I have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can cause acid reflux among other things. My wife thinks the vertigo might be caused by the vertigo. Perhaps all of these things happened when I first started sleep apnea..,?

Hi, sorry to hear that you have these symptoms. I had the same ones as well. They started about a year ago, just working behind a computer I got this feeling I was going to faint, standed up really fast and thought that i will call ambulance. But it passed. Since then I have been having the same symptoms, went through MRI, stress tests everything was fine. Went to psychatrist and they prescribed me escitalopram which is an antidepressant. This took my symptoms away completely, no more panic or worrying about my health. And no more dizziness/left hand tingling, temple tingling, shortness of breath etc.

Now I'm trying to get off of these meds (just the thought of living help of medications and not handling my stuff myself does not suit me), and on situations where I should get a little nervous (public speaking etc) I get these symptoms again. But I think they are completely psychological and the truth is somewhere deeper.
