Dizzy 24/7

Hey everyone, ever since I went to the hospital for a panic attack, I've had this feeling of dizziness ever since. It's not quite 24/7, but it's close enough. I always feel like I'm on a boat. Has anyone else felt this way?

I had an anxiety attack in a supermarket at the start of January. I was feeling dizzy in the store and before I knew it I felt this crippling pressure in my head. Since that day I've had the exact same feeling you describe, like being on a boat.

I can be fine sat down. Even when I get in the car I'm fine. Also, if I'm struggling with something else anxiety related like my breathing for example, my dizziness goes away. It only seems to happen when nothing else is happening at the same time. Currently having lots of tests done and everything coming back normal.

Hard to remember what it was like before this.

As much as this sucks for both of us, it does make me feel a little better that someone else has gone through this as well. Feeling alone in our struggles is always the worst part.

i get this but i also have moments where i feel like i am bobbing up and down even when i am still. it all started with severe panic attacks and i also have had so many tests and all are negative. this has been going on for over a year and i finally have a diagnosis of a condition called PPPD. Look it up and see if any of the symptoms relate to you. The only thing that helps me is distraction. As soon as i am not doing anything its back. I hope this helps and if theres anything I can help with please let me know x

I literally read about this the other day and I'm now certain it's what I've got. everything fits, from the initial acute episode I had to how its worse in the shop.

currently trying to convince the doctor to help me look into it but just got to jump through some hoops for them first with blood tests etc

Yeah its crazy isnt it how these thinhs can affect us in so many ways. I literally feel like im on a trampoline when im washing up and at first it petrified me, i went through absolute hell thinking i was dying and convinced i had a brain tumour. The more tests I had the more everything was coming back fine but i felt far from fine! Youll find alot of GPs have never even heard of it so ask to be reffered to an ENT or a Neurologist and you need to have vestibular testing to rule out anything specific. Also if youre on instagram search the tag PPPD and youll find some pages with alot of info and personal experiences that I found so so helpful to explain things. If you need any help or advice you can also inbox me anytime 😃

Hi! Is PPPD a condition all on its own, or is it caused by something sinister? The way you are talking about it, I assume the former, but just making sure!

I cant speak for Elisha but in my case it was caused by an acute 10 minutes or so of extreme dizziness and pressure in my head after a visit to the supermarket. I've had it ever since that day at the start of January.

You should do some reading up on it, and there's some good videos on YouTube. I knew as soon as I read about it that that was what I had. I try to avoid googling symptoms as much as I can, but this hit the nail on the head

      Hi Ryan

It’s definitely not caused by anything sinister! I’ve had CT scans, MRI of my brain and inner ears, scans, blood tests! Most of which I paid for myself convinced I was dying and everything always came back clear. The cause would typically be a head injury, a viral infection or as Thom said an onset of dizziness like mine was a panic attack from flash backs and then the dizziness stayed with me. Feel free to ask me anything or inbox me if you need any help with anything xx

I've battled with anxiety for two years and have suddenly started with constant dizziness which has been going on for a week now.

I suddenly felt like everything was spinning and nearly fell down some stairs. Since then its not been as bad but it comes and goes and I sometimes feel like I'm going to fall over or crash if I'm driving.

I'm going to call the doctor about it tomorrow but I've spoken to them about numerous pains and symptoms over the last two years which have turned out to be 'nothing' so I bet it'll be a waste of everyone's time again...
