Dizzy and lightheaded all the time?

Hi All,

I am a 31 year old female who has suffered with anxiety and panic attacks since I was 12. So, I am no stranger to the symptoms and I have learned many coping mechanisms throughout the years. My current issue started last summer and has been recurring from time to time and that is extreme dizziness. I’ve had 2 EKGs, 3 chest rays, numerous blood tests, thyroid tests, and my BP and oxygen levels are always fine (I test them at home). Why am I feeling so dizzy? I have been going through a lot of anxiety and panic due to a divorce but for Christ’s sake - I feel like I’m going to pass out all the time. It kind of comes and goes with heart palpitations. Doctor at the ER said it’s anxiety and my heart looked fine but he didn’t do an echo. Because I’m a hypochondriac, I have my PCP send me a referral to a Cardiologist and I am going to schedule an appointment just to rule out any arrhythmia concerns.

Has anyone else suffered with dizziness? If so, what has helped you? I find I have to lie down and I can’t always do that if I’m at work...I’m miserable...!

I am super dizzy 24/7 from anxiety. Seven months now. Buteyko style breathing can help. Also, get a sleep study because i found out I stop breathing over 50 times every night! I got a CPAP machine which helps.

also, anxiety medications make the problem worse. Avoid if possible.

Omg YES! Today I was so lightheaded and my chest felt heavy and my body was tired. Also I was scared I of getting up bc I would get really lightheaded and felt at times I was going to faint. I get heart palpitations and kinda getting use to then but now I'm getting this dizziness/lightheadedness and I can't deal with it. Hope you start to feel better. If you find out anything please let me know.

Thank you all for the responses! I was still dizzy today, although not as bad. I try to take as little medications as possible because dizziness is a side effect of many of them! It’s jusr awful - feeling like you’re gonna collapse from being so lightheaded. It just doesn’t seem normal. I’m seeing a cardiologist anyway just to be sure but every test so far has been normal. And I’m not anemic. It’s scary to think that anxiety can cause such unpleasant symptoms!
