dizzy floaty feeling head since september, all day every day, feels like my head is not attached to my body?doctor said it was labrithitis back in september.i have now seen the ent specialist and he has ordered a mri scan as i didnt show signs of inner ear dizziness?

every now and then i will get a extreme dizzy spell which lasts about 15 seconds where i feel sick and get really hot and almost cant see?

this has happened about 12 times since september,a few times while driving in which i had to pull over and the other times have been when in a meeting or out at a resturrant.

i guess this extreme dizziness could be down to anxiety as im worried it is going to happen, but i still have this strange head feeling 24/7 also if i stop dead while walking it feels like im still walking if that makes sense?

    Hi

I totally understand what you are saying.

I have been diagnosed with Labrynthitis which is horrid and have been off sick since 30th Dec.but I have had those symptoms which you have described.

Ive been to an ENT and have my 2nd treatment as well as change in medication .I too have a scan booked.

Please let me know how you get on.

I understand how frustrating this must be for you. I was bedridden for 12 months with extreme vertigo nausea and anxiety. Was diagnosed with labyrinthitis then BPPV. After 12 months I couldn't take it anymore so went back to my GP who then sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed me with migraine associated vertigo. I am now on preventive migraine tablets and have been able to resume a fairly normal life. I still have my bouts every now and then but not as frequently as before.

Keep going back to the dr and demanding they keep looking for an answer.

Many of them wanted to put me on antidepressants in the end but I refused as I know there was something seriously wrong. I even changed my GP to someone with more care and understanding. He was a god send.

I had all the MRi's, caloric testing, hearing testing, halpike manouevre, etc.

I know there are many people suffering this, it's just a matter of getting the correct diagnosis.

I hope this helps. And I wish you all the best

    Thank you.

That is so strange as I have suffered for year's with migraine and the ENT guy has said that this is complicating the recovery but he has put me on preventive migraine medication to help.

all the best your end too -smile

Im waiting on a mri scan now, waited 4 months just to see the ent team!

I dont get any headaches other than the ones that beat the same rhythm as your heart, ive been off work since October anearly all my work involves driving, driving makes me feel really drunk so ive not drove for a while!

Does a mri scan show up labrinthitis or similar?

    Hope you feel better soon

Ok , well it will be 2 years next month since I call it the Big Bang that happened which obviously happened to you. I was unable to work either and now just starting to look for work.

The MRI was clear. It doesn't show whether lab is there or not. They are just ruling out tumors.

As for the MAV. I didn't believe the neuro at first as I was rarely getting headaches. I was however having pain in my neck and shoulder. This is classified as migrainous in nature.

Google migraine associated vertigo and there is an excellent forum that I found very helpful once diagnosed. You may want to see if you are suffering the same things.

I typically had only had one migraine headache in my life so I didn't fully understand it.

You may have something different. I did initially have lab and BPPV but obviously so much damage was done it got to the MAV stage.

Not many doctors treat this, even when I went back to my ENT he pretty much dismissed it but I am now on medication and able to function a lot better. I also use valium sparingly when I'm in really busy areas with bright lights, like airports. Before this I couldn't even walk out my front door, drive, shopping centres were an absolute living hell. But now I can manage.

I do hope you find the right diagnosis. This illness is horrendous.

      Hello Dizzybee,

I also have been dealing with this horrible dizziness and feeling out of body and like I'm going to faint and like I'm in a dream a lot.  I was getting better last year but got bad again last fall.  I feel like I'm floating or that an ocean wave has hit my head and I get nauseated.  May I ask, what medicine has finally helped you to get out driving again?  When I have tried driving, I feel so dizzy and faint from so much over stimuli.  I've been having problems now for about 2.5 years.  Thank you in advance for any advice you have.
