I have been suffering from this horrible dizziness, lightheadedness, faint feeling for 9 years- have had every test ran and all come back normal--- I'm out of solutions and my ENT just referred me back to Neurology---

    I have the same situation.

How old are you? I'm 47 and have found the menopause forum helpful as this exact symptom is one of peri menopause.

Me too Michelle... Started when I was 45 and now I'm 54! Had no tests can't get any, our doctors just look at me like I'm making it up!! Never been one for doctors but went out of desperation. Every Menopause symptom there is I've had. The anxiety, adrenalin rushes & imbalance are the 3 worst. 😔 Gave up a career, then gave up a part time job and I'm only 54! Nothing left except to try and get through on a daily basis. I did get a break of several months Jan to March... Then it all came back! Heartbreaking .... What a life! Sorry I'm not more positive but it's been too long

    Hello Mjchelle,

I sympathise deeply with your situation having suffered similar symptoms for two and a half years and had to retire early.

On my last visit to ENT I was given a course of antibiotic ear drops and two weeks later the dizziness stopped.

Unfotunately my balance is still hopeless, but one thing at a time.

I know that doctors are not keen to give antibiotics but surely its worth a try to end years of misery.

I hope you find an answer soon.

    Better tomorrow

    Hi Michelle,

I have been dizzy, not vertigo spinning dizzy, but more imbalance unsteadiness dizzy now for about 10years.  I can definately relate to your situation.  I did get a diagnosis about 4 years ago and have done a fair amount of research.  Could you share more about your symptoms, the tests you have had done, the conditions you have ruled out with your Drs?

Is your dizziness constant or does it come and go, do you have migranes, anxiety, any other symptoms like hearing releated?

The forum has many people with all different types of dizziness so it is good if you can describe your dizziness in more detail.

I had twins back in Feb 2007, on Feb 17 the dizzy feeling came on and I thought it was the bloodless so I started eating more iron rich food along with taking a supplement, then it never went away, I don't get the spinning just the feeling like I'm going to fall over and mainly when I'm still, I've had an MRI of brain without contrast- ENG- Psychological Exam and then the Neuro team told me that I had SEVERE VERTIGO DUE TO LIFESTYLE CHANGE (TWINS) and that it would go away with time, we'll obviously that wasn't true,,, I had learned to live with it and went on to become a nurse---well here lately it has started to become worse, I feel like I'm going to pass out and just dizzy ( like I'm drunk) and I don't drink or smoke--- I have received Vestibular therapy that didn't work---medications like Klonopin, Nasonex,Meclizine. They have ruled out MS, TUMOR,ACOUSTIC NEUROMA, MENIERES. My Dr is going to run more vestibular testing so hopefully now I can get an answer---

I meant BLOODLOSS... and I've had an MRI done With contrast of the brain and ear canals---which did show up normal they say but when I read on there it said I had a PARTIALLY EMPTY SELLA but went on to say that had nothing to do with my dizziness--- they also have done the EPLEY Maneuver which is always negative---so I'm just a miserable wreck!!

    Hi Michelle,

Thanks for additional information.  Sounds like you have had a fair amount of testing.  You may not have an obvious problem.  I would like to suggest 1 or 2 more tests to check for a less common condition.  I had the same symptoms you did for 6 years, I finally developed a new symptom that helped them to determine that had Superior Canal Dehiscence.  I am sure everyone reads these posts and thinks that the person might have the same problem they do.  However, I think it is worth getting tested to rule this out as it is another possibility for the cause of your symtpoms.  This condition is the result of a small hole the forms in the superior canal of the ear.  The tests you may want to request are the VEMP test and high resolution CT scan of ear canals to check for a hole.  This condition is commonly misdiagnosed.  Also, many ENTs are not ware of this conditon.  There are severl other symptoms associated with this condition but the symptoms for each person are quite different.  I have the dizziness for 6 years before any other symptom and then also picked up the Autophony symptom (hearing your own voice in your ear loudly).
