Dizzy spells and hissing in one ear, could I have meniere's ?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have been having dizzy spells that have come out of no where. All of a sudden i feel dizzy, head spins, i can see (so don't black out) but struggle to focus. When I have the dizzy spell there is a loud hissing noise in my right ear which lasts longer than the dizzy spell. I had a dizzy spell today and have felt rotten afterwards. Anyone with similar experiences? I am 34 years old and have no other health concerns. Thank you

    Hey Samma,

have you tried reducing your alcohol, salt and caffeine intake to see if that makes a difference with your symptoms? Your description is too generic to put a label on it. I wish you the very best in finding out what it is.

    Good luck!

Thank you for the response. I rarely drink alcohol and I am going to try and reduce salt and caffeine, although Info have a pretty good diet. I've been to the GP this morning, I am suffering with vertigo and he thinks its Meniere's so I have some pills and I am now on the ENT waiting list.

Seek medical advice - if it is Meniere's the sooner you start treatment the better.

    Hi samma

your symptoms sounds like meniere's disease as well but you have to do an audio test and caloric test to confirm the diagnosis for meniere's disease and see an ENT consulatant. However you have to do other tests like MRI, blood test, sugar, blood pressure to cancel out other possible disease. I had to wait 3 months before seeing an ENT consultant then one month later test to confirm meniere's disease. So book as soon as possible through your GP if you live in the UK like me. The waiting list is quite long. Good luck
