Dizzy spells. Anxiety related?

Hey, I've had anxiety for maybe 8 years now and Health Anxiety since last year (probably longer but that's when I was diagnosed). I don't tend to get severe panic attacks anymore in the sense where I can't breathe and in a full state of panic etc, but I do seem to be in a constant anxiety attack. I keep getting a lot of dizziness, sometimes just generally lightheaded, but I also get random bouts of feeling like the floor or chair has been taken from beneath me, almost like I'm falling, but only for a second. I then go into a bit of a panic. Does anyone else get these sensations?

Thanks.

I know what you mean, I'm similar - long time sufferer and now it seems I have a constant low grade anxiety attack. Yes it absolutely can mess with your balance, its generally from not breathing properly, shallow breathing without noticing. Try concentrating on slowing your breathing and keeping deep breathes going for a while and try not to focus on it too much

I used to get the falling sensation as a teenager in my dreams then I would wake up and it would be morning. But I was sleeping in a high bed so maybe that was why.

Thank you. Atleast I know it's not just me! I get it in my sleep too, but I just assumed that was a dream, but it's that exact same feeling, just when I'm wide awake. That makes sense. I never notice I'm not breathing properly but I perhaps do it subconsciously. Thanks guys

Apparently the falling sensation while sleeping is to do with a drop in blood pressure, its very common, nothing to worry about

Oh really? I didn't know that. I thought it was something to do with the muscles! Good to know. Thanks

Yes! I just posted about this..I think it's chronic hyperventilation syndrome.. We're unconsciously breathing too much..just great. How do we stop this? How do you guys cope with it? It's awful

I don't think there's a need to create a syndrome out of it to be honest, its cause and effect. Anxiety causes fear, fear does things to the body which make us feel bad. It doesn't need to be more complicated than that really. Deal with the anxiety the best way possible and all the effects of it will lessen too

Yep, I call them head drops as that's what they feel like. I've suffered from dizziness too. However, I did get a condition years ago called labyrinthtis which is a condition of the inner ear that causes all these symptoms and anxiety. I was already an anxiety sufferer before so it made my symptoms ten times worse! I just continued doing normal things and it eventually went, took a long time though! I only get dizziness and head drops when I'm either very anxious or tired now. Maybe see your Dr to ask about this condition just in case x
