Hi
I am Male, 30 Years of Age
I'm 14 Stone 9lbs , 5ft 11.
I don't have any notable medical history apart from I was diagnosed with a form of autism when I was 13, I have also lost 4.5 stone in the last two years through diet and exercise (Mostly Walking 2-3 hours a day).
I am moderately active, I play football twice a week, Do walks for a couple hours a day and play a round of golf once a week.
Today (Sunday) something strange happened and I have never felt this way before.
I woke up with a pain in the middle of my chest, got out of bed and felt dizzy and nauseous, I thought ok maybe I'm a little under the weather, so I got up and got a drink and took some cold and flu tablets.
Had breakfast got ready to go out the same as always but I still felt off as I left the house.
It was my nieces 7th birthday today so I was eager to get involved with the family and see my niece
A few hours later having been down town for a while still feeling light headed and nauseous I'm talking to my family and explaining how strange I feel and that I've never felt this way before. My mum thought it might be a bug and I was saying how it doesn't make sense because I know what sickness bugs feel like and that I didn't feel that way. I got talking to my Brother In Law and mentioned the strange feeling in the middle of my chest It's very subtle and not really that painful, like a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 but It has been there for 2 days now and I'm feeling it constantly. He talked about how my heartrate had reached 186 at the gym on Saturday morning, I had signed up earlier that week with him and it was my second time going. It went from 68 to 186 in the space of 5 minutes on the Step Machine (Which I had never used before). He recommended I start on half of his intensity (7) and I had to lower the intensity during the workout (to 4) and really struggled. Today (Sunday) he was concerned about my heart after I explained the chest pain and feeling dizzy nauseous and hazy and that I should go check it out. There were times today whilst with my family that I was feeling off balance, struggling to concentrate and just a general hazy feeling. There were also times where I was struggling to think clear, stuttering and even formulate sentences and sometimes would pause half sentence and draw a blank in my mind as to what to say next. Before we were heading in to the cinema we were sat down at a costa and I decided to take his advice and go get it checked out.
So I went to the A and E and mentioned the pain in my chest, that I was feeling plus my symptoms of light headedness, fatigue, nausea and general hazy feeling.
I was there for 4 hours total, They took my heartrate and pulse, didn't note anything off did an Ecg scan first, They then did my bloodwork and a follow up ecg scan and didn't find anything wrong with my heart.
They said that my bloodwork was also negative, they asked me if I was more anxious then usual, I said no and I probably should of said yes. I have been feeling stress and anxious over the past 2 weeks. And if I'm being completely honest I am in general someone who worries a lot about all sorts of things here and there just simple day to day stuff. I said no because I wanted to avoid talking about my Sister who is unwell physically and mentally and is currently at a bmi of 16 and also my best friend who has had a mental break at work the past 2 weeks and Iv'e been comforting him and stress about trying to figure out a way to talk to my sister who seems to be getting worse every few months (My family has a history of eating problems), Including myself, I went to a bmi of 13 as a child through heavy bullying, that was 17 years ago and have long since recovered. And also that I have fallen out with my brother because of some exchanges between the two of us. I asked the A and E doctor why he would ask that and he said that stress and anxiety can cause the symptoms I was experiencing. Not that I understand how thats possible but It would make sense given the week I have had at home.
Should I monitor myself and see if these symptoms pass? I am still experiencing them even now as I'm typing and this has taken a good hour and a half to type out.
In general I think I'm a happy person, I'd say my mental health is in a good place, I have goals in life that I want to achieve so It does confuse me as to what happened today.
My chest pain is still here too, and the strange thing with it is I actually remember it before about 10 years ago I woke up with sharp pain in my chest and also had negative results with the ecg which is what they did first. They did an xray and the doctor said I had a potential pneumothorax. I had return check ups for that and the return xray showed no sign of it worsening. It is strange though because even to this day many times throughout the year I hear air escaping from inside (Like the bottom of the throat area) and this seems to happen more often during cold weather. And it has turned from very hot to very cold in the last 24 hours. It could be that my chest pain is completely unrelated to my other symptoms, But I'm no doctor and I'd like to understand both, and especially figure out why i'm feeling light headed and nauseas.
It is also worth mentioning that I have scalp psoriasis and skin eczema (Lower Arms, Ankles, Shins, Chest) which are apparently stress related skin issues.
The subtle constant pain I'm experiencing in my chest is inbetween my breasts right in the middle.
Wow this took 2 hours to write, I guess I'm not used to sharing and talking like this.
Is it normal for my heartrate to go from 68 to 186 within 5 minutes on the Step Machine at the gym also?
I consider myself to be moderately fit so this was a shock when it rose so fast on a Intensity that was 9 levels lower then my Brother In Law who is of similar weight and height. He hadn't even eaten yet that day and I had eaten breakfast myself. His heartrate peaked at 135 (level 14), Mine was 186 (level 5).
Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated. I'm trying to shed another 2 stone and reach my target, I started at 19stone 3lbs and am trying to reach 13 stone flat so my BMI is just inside the normal range.

marc - you should not just wait. you should go see a specialist. the dizziness, the naseau, the brain fog, the problem forming sentences and focusing. could be a vestibular issue.you sound like you are from europe, not USA. i ask because of your healthcare system and ability to see specialists. one of my doctors had told me heart rate and blood pressure can change with a vestibular problem. i had to go on a blood pressure med. do you have the ability to see an ENT- Nuero-ontoligist, Otolarygologist?? i went months with the brain fog trouble speaking, dizzy, ect. had been hospitilized 2x with vertigo- i saw the floor on the wall. i suggest trying to see one of these specialists. regular doctors and even regular ENTs and Nuerologists dont know much about these things. google Dizzy Clinics in your area to see if there are specialists close by. try taking Bonine (mecclazine) its over the counter by the dramamine. if this helps and clears your head a bit and helps with the dizziness you may have a vestibular problem. i would caution you on throwing anxiety out tothe doctors because lots of people here have been ignored because they said this. there are so many different vestibular issues. BPPV, Vestibular Nueritis, Meniere disease , LAabrinthitis, Vestibular Migraines. i have Vestibular Migraines but was mis disgnosed 2x before i finally got a qualified doctor to help me.

hello. speaking from experience i can say that anxiety definetely causes lot of physical symptoms: dizziness, increased heart rate, upset stomach, chest pain, heart palpitations. you can even look it up online, the correlation between mind & body is insanely powerful . while i have seen many doctors to figure out why i am dizzy (vertigo: feel like my surroundings are moving or i am spinning sometimes), i know my anxiety makes it 100% worse. i dont know how i make it through my days sometimes ): i feel like i am going to pass out sometimes its so bad & while im working!!
i have to remind myself to take deep breaths!
hope you find relief.

hi marc
i posted yesterday and for some strange reason its being moderated. you need to get checked out by a physician who knows about vertigo, dizziness, and vestibular disorders. most regular doctors have no understanding. most people get a cat scan and MRI to rule out serious issues. try to get an appointment with a nuero-ontologist or otolargonogist. regular ENTs and nuero.ogist dont know much. be careful of throwing anxiety out there- many people have and are being ignored because of it. of course we all have anxiety over this medical condition. look up a dizzy clinic in the major city near you. that is a good start.
