Surely this must be world record for treatment.

Tony Blackburn has had prostate surgery, it emerged yesterday. However it was not have cancer, doctors discovered.  Blackburn, 73, had a two-hour operation to remove part of his enlarged prostate gland using hi-tech laser treatment at a London hospital. Last night, a friend revealed he was recovering well after the surgery, which took place this month. He said Blackburn had surgery just 24 hours after his symptoms started, adding: ‘Fortunately, he doesn’t have cancer. 'He awoke in pain at his home in Hertfordshire and was operated on the next day.

But he simply can’t bear being away from a mic for too long and has been able to host his two commercial radio station slots on Sundays.’

Wow that is great, when you're unknown like me it takes 6 months to get operated on, now over 4 months with a catheter and waiting for a tentative operation date of end of July.

I don't see that he had time for any tests.

Strange that he did not have any prior symptoms investigated and suddenly woke up in pain. I did not have any pain in the years my prostate was growing apart from when getting two infections after biopsies.

Prostatitis did not start until years after my GL PVP when my prostate started regrowing and I had retention.

I had a bout start just before going for aortic valve replacement and thought that they might not proceed as I had an infection but they said it was OK. When they tried to put a catheter in pre op they could not get it past my prostate and had to use a supra pubic one.

To me this makes no sense.  Derek and John you know and I know it takes weeks to get in for surgery after you have tests   How did this happen   You wake one morning in pain and tell you doctor He then tells you that it's your prostate and you could have cancer and have part of it removed that day.   Were are the tests.  How did he even know that was the problem.  I think that doctor was looking for the money  I think DJ is lucky thatout of it ok...  They would never do that to me  You some test first and they we talk  Ken
