Do all of these sound like Graves/hyperthyroidism symptoms?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I've had on/off differing symptoms for just over a year, which have taken a while to really put together. I haven't actually been diagnosed, but It all seemed to be pointing that way, and it runs in the family.

I've been experiencing in the past year:

More frequent/looser bowel movements

Occasional diarhhoea

Some mucus in stool

Feeling hot occasionally when no one else is

Flushed face/neck

Visable heartbeat in chest and stomach

more frequent headaches (sometimes pain behind the eyes)

More irregullar menstrual periods

Bad anxiety

Can get slightly depressed

Poor sleeping but can cope as normal with little sleep

Occasional slight tremor of the hands

I'm not sure if there's any more but that's all i can think of at the moment. A lot of them are kind of on and off, but the most consistent being the heartbeat and bowel movements. I've been to the doctor about some of them but nothing really came out of it so was thinking maybe i should just ask fr the bloodtest.

Thanks for anny replies; would love to hear about other peopl's symptoms and experiences

Hi,  If you search 'symptoms of magnesium deficiency'  a  lot (possibly all?) of the symptoms you've listed are covered by this.  The thyroid needs magnesium as well as other minerals such as zinc, copper, selenium to support its functions.  I've been reading its actually vital for every task the body undertakes and the vast majority of people are quite probably  deficient in it.

The vitamins and minerals get depleted with thyroid disease and I agree they should be replaced but replacing them will not address the disease if the cause is autoimmune though they will help with recovery.

Yes I would tell him that these symptoms are very significant for hyperthyroidism and will he/she please check your thyroid blood tests.

I don't know - Visable heartbeat in chest and stomach

More like sinus infection - more frequent headaches (sometimes pain behind the eyes)

Hi, I would say yes to all of them, however my symptoms came on within 6 weeks very significantly and extreme.  I think I had graves following having my son and preeclampsia - it could have been masked as I was on blood pressure tablets and anxiety tablets - had less than a year off the anxiety tablets and a lot of stress and became ill.
