Do Fructose and lactose count as 'sugar'?

I am trying to limit my sugar intake but fruit contains an awful lot of sugar and so does milk! Are these sugars as bad for you as other forms of sugar?

Depends on your condition, fructose (fruit sugar) is a very simple monosaccharide and during digestion goes directly into the bloodstream. Fructose is often recommended for diabetics because it does not trigger the production of insulin.

Table sugar (Saccharose) is a disaccharide and therefore needs to be broken down by enzymes before it goes in the bloodstream.

Lactose is a sugar too (milk sugar) and also needs breaking down via digestive enzymes, people who are lactose intolerant don't have the right genes to get those enzymes to work and may end up bloated or with a diarrhoea.

    Hope that helps.

Just a question - why are you limiting your sugar intake ? Are you diabetic or at risk of diabetes ?

I have read that you can reduce your risk of alzheimers by limiting your sugar and protein intake. I'm not diabetic.
