Do I Have A Cavity Between My Teeth?

I am a teenager and I have had a lot of pain in between two of my pre-molars on the bottom. Food seems to get stuck in it all the time and when it does I can't chew on that side of my mouth. It hurts so much even when there isn't food in between, and I am wondering if I have a cavity in between my teeth. Is this possible? How is it treated? I have never had a filling before and I am scared this could be really complicated. Would braces help? I just really want to know if this is bad. Thanks.

Thanks for replying,
When I flossed it hurt so much so I couldn't get the food out. When it came out by itself (with some blood) I had a couple of days where it was ok and then more got stuck! I am due an appointment at the dentist so I will go soon, it just hurts so much and I don't want anything to hurt- I've never had a filling before and a filling sounds really sore and complicated if it is between the teeth. How is a filling between the teeth done? Does it involve alot of drilling? I have a bad feeling that it is something serious. Also, would braces improve the situation? I have been to the orthodontist and they said it was my choice whether to get them or not.
Thanks again,
Minnie

no no no, its not serious. if you do....IF.... they give you a little shot of novacaine in that jaw,,,,feels like a pinch...i dont like it either..but that is the worst. then it sets in and if he drills you will not feel anything except pressure from him moving your mouth open . the thing that bothers me here is the sound!!!! oh gawd, i cant stand that sound...but NO PAIN. when he is through drilling. (which probably took all of 2minutes unless its a crater..) he will put a filling in it. if you can afford it, you want a white filling....silver fillings are bad for you but i think you have to tell them. all you feel is him pushing the stuff in the hole. then they put an instrument in your mouth and hold it for a minute....it 'cures' the filling. and then you are all done. now, you might not even have a cavity. but it sounds like food is getting in that pocket for some reason and i dont know why. im sorry im thinking you are young....you might be older. but when we get older our gums do start to get away from the tooth and thats a pocket. you got blood b/c you probably flossed too hard. try a toothpic. chew on the other side til dentist. i hope ive taken away some of your fears.
