im an 18 year old male and have been having uti symptoms for about a month iv just finished my week of antibiotics and they have not helped at all. My symptoms are :

1.feeling like i need to urinate but cant (especially when im trying to sleep)

2.sometimes burning when urinating

3.frequently urinating

4.weak flow

when i did at home urine test i had protein in my urine. Could this be due to something to do with the prostate as i am struggling to figure out whats wrong with me.

I am not a doctor but would test for UTI, STI and prostatitis. If standard tests show nothing - would pay for additional ones. Sounds like an infection but you need to establish which one.

You'll have to wait after antibiotics before you have a test - it was not a good idea to do this in the reverse order.

I am not a doctor but a patient with metastatic prostate cancer and never did I have your symptoms.

Let me echo Allondon's recommendation, pls check yourself for UTIs and STDs.

    Matty,

What tests have you had done ? If you had the urine tested for bacteria, that may only show infection in the bladder. In order to determine infection in the prostate, you may need to have your semen checked for bacteria. The semen can be obtained from masturbation or from a prostate massage, as in DRE, (Digital Rectal Exam). After they determine which bacteria are in the semen they can determine an antibiotic to use. You should see a Urologist to have these tests done.
