Do I have a sleeping disorder? Any natural remedy advice for better sleep?

Hi everyone,

My name is Stephanie and I'm new here. If any one can give me advice I would REALLY appreciate it. I'm looking for natural remedies to help me sleep better. Because of my current sleeping habits/issues, my fiance wakes up in the middle of the night and has to sleep in another bed in order to get a good nights sleep. I also start the day feeling really tired. I'm worried that if I don't fix this I will end up really crabby and low energy and worry that we will eventually permanently sleep in separate rooms.

I listed below the three things I do at night. Every one of the items in the list below wakes my finance up and is affecting his sleep. I'm not sure if all or some of these items are the reasons why I'm tired.

- My arm goes straight up in the air or my arm is bent with just my elbow in the air.  I may do this 2-3 times in a night but it could be more. I'm sure if I do this every night or a few times a week, but it's frequent. My dad also does this. I’m not sure what this is. I believe this is a long standing habit (if not my whole life, at least for the past 5 years). I don't wake up from this and I wouldn't know unless someone told me.

-I’m a side sleeper and start sleeping on my side of the bed. When I’m asleep I move my body so it’s diagonal across our queen bed. I’ve seen my siblings sleep diagonally too. (again I've done this for a very long time, if not my whole life at least for 5 years).

-This one is a bit newer – within the last month or so. I wake up about every 4 hours (so I wake up at least 2 times a night). I can get back to sleep (I’m not wide awake because I can go back to sleep, but if I had to get up I could), but I move around trying to re-position myself to get back to sleep. I don't know why I can't sleep through the night any more. I now also feel like I'm a really light sleeper and the slightest noise will wake me up.

About Me (maybe this would help):

-I’m 28, I eat light and healthy, but it could be MUCH better since I barely eat fruits and veggies, I am not overweight (I mean, I could lose 15 pounds), I am fairly active (run 1-2 miles every 3-4 days, and go for walks), I sit all day at work, we bought a new mattress 3 months ago so the bed is very comfortable, the new bed is fluffier than I'm used to so I had to switch to a flatter pillow to make my neck not ache…I don’t know what else may be a factor.

I’ve tried chamomile tea 30 minutes before bed, but it doesn’t seem to work (but I'm going to keep trying). I’m going to try not watching tv before bed. I've been trying to work out more so I'm more tired at night. It doesn't seem to be working. I really don’t know what else to do.

Any advice?

Thanks so much!!

-Stephanie

Separate beds?  How long have you been together?  Married 47 years, we have had different bedrooms for 10. NOT a divorce; just recognises different sleeping patterns

We've been together for 11 years. Just something I have to get used to is all. I am also tired so It'd be nice to find a remedy for that.
