Do I have a yeast infection or something else? Please help!!!

A month ago I had a burning/ irritated sensation while peeing that lasted a couple days and vaginal irritation that both went away for a while. Since then, I’ve developed a cramping and achy sensation in my lower abdomen that feels like cramps. Now I have discharge that looks like a yeast infection, at the beginning was white and watery and now is clumpy and I’m itchy and irritated again. (sorry for the graphics). It’s been a month and a half all together since the beginning of my syptoms. Since I never had a yeast infection before, does this sound like one? Is there a way to treat this at home or do I need antibiotics?

Have you got rid of yeast infections? I knew Fugacil cream would help reduce the symptoms (itching, burning, irritation and discharge) while oral fluconazole would prevent the yeast Candida from returning. Yeast infections are easy to treat, but they can reoccur once or twice every month and become chronic. In fact, some certain foods or diets can promote the growth of yeast and lead to recurrent infections. To prevent this problem, you should follow the few tips below:
- Keep the vaginal area clean and dry. After showering, dry the area thoroughly. Always remove wet swimsuits and exercise clothes right away and change into cotton pants without underwear. Limit the amount of time you spend in hot tubs or very hot baths.
- Let the area breathe. Wear cotton, not nylon, underwear; and avoid tights and pantyhose without a cotton lining, as well as tight pants. Consider not wearing underwear during sleep to allow some airflow.
- Watch your sugar intake, including alcohol! Sugar is the main food source for yeast.
- Take probiotics, especially if you are taking antibiotics. Probiotics, found in cultured foods like yogurt and especially in Activia, help restore your normal vaginal bacteria.
- Finally, always avoid douches, feminine sprays, deodorant tampons, and even bubble baths, which may contain chemicals that can be irritating.
