do i have appendicitis or could my symptoms be something else?

I have recently been to my gp with pile symptoms and a change in my bowel habit. She examined me and said she had found a mass. She referred me for a sigmoidoscopy which I'm due to have on Monday.

For the last few days I've had a dull ache in my lower right abdomen which has got progressively worse over the last 24 hours.

I would describe the pain as a very intense ache, although when I try to go to the loo I feel like something is really tight and pulling inside me.

I'm not sure if I should still go through with the sigmoidoscopy or should I visit A & E?

I can understand that you are very worried but it seems you have received a fairly quick hospital appointment. with regards to the pain however, if you feel you can't wait till Monday, do go to a and e to put your mind at rest. I doubt it is appendix as that is usually a very sharp pain a bit like stick rather than a dull one . If you go to a and e tell them you are waiting to go to hospital and also what your g phas already said . Good luck and let us know how you get on

Thanks for replying. I will try to wait till Monday as at the moment the pain is not as you described so more than likely is something else.

If anything changes I will re think the situation.

      Thanks for the advice

      Kind regards
