Do I have costochondritis or fibromyalgia?

I’ve been having chest/arm pains primarily on my left side. It’s tender and sore. It’s really hard for me to take deep breaths. Most of my breaths are shallow. And it feels like I have so much pressure on my chest. I’ve gone to the ER where I’ve gotten an EKG, X-ray, bloodwork. They told me everything was fine and just prescribed me an anti-inflammatory. It’s been a week since then and I feel like it’s still the same if not intensified. I’m so very scared. I’m a stay at home mom to a two year old boy. I want to stick around to watch him grow. Is it costochondritis possible? Or fibromyalgia? The pain does tend to jump around. But primarily my chest is my biggest concern. Please help!

Your symptoms very much describe my costochondritis except mine is on my right side. I was dianosed almost 2 years ago. It has finally calmed down but I do have the occasional flare-up. I have to be very careful what I do to not cause another flare-up. Please don't pick your baby up on your affected side (or lift other heavy objects) so it doesn't cause a flare-up or worsen your condition. This condition is very bothersome but not life-threatening. I know it feels like it is when you have trouble breathing. Be careful of dizziness. Lay down and try breathing from your diaphram (make your abdomen rise instead of your chest while breathing in). Take good care of yourself.

April there 2 different things , with Costco.. you get it from trama to your sternum, and I pulled mine about 13 years ago ,trying to pick up something and pulled my cheast wall muscleand both my shoulders rotary cuffs. and didn't see a Dr until about 2 months after done it and MRI showed arthritis in shoulders but you can't see the pulled muscle in the sternum. than the fibro, is a wide spread pain threw out different parts of your body. I don't have, that but the Costco is very painful and it wanders ,when you move a certain way your chest bones intend to rub over each other and will knock the breath out of you , try to start deep breathing and laying flat on a bed or flood and take your fingers and lightly due a circle rotation on your cheast between the ribs , dont press hard . and ask your dr to go to physical therapy, or a chiropractor, just remember to never manipulate that area , and warm compress, and try a Aleve aspirin.
