Do I have genital herpes

Hi ,

2 weeks ago I got tested for stds, the clinic did a wee sample, swab of my vagina and a blood test. I went there because I was having some vaginal itching and noticed some bumps down there but it turned out the bumps were normal to have around my vaginal and labia area.

I tested clear/negative , my boyfriend got tested aswell and his results came back clear/negative. I don’t think I had the herpes blood test though and I’ve been researching and apparently they can only tell if you have genital herpes if you have that particular blood test done or a swab of present sores and I had no sores or blisters and never have done since being with my partner for 1 year and a half years ( I know people sometimes don’t know that they even have genital herpes ).

I have had oral herpes since I was a little child 2/3, I have in the past given my boyfriend oral sex whilst I had a cold sore ( I didn’t know at the time that you could pass it on that way, stupid I know ! ).

Just today my boyfriend noticed a red bump which looks abit white on his penis near his testicles, this is worrying because both of us have never seen that on his penis before. He does shave his pubic hair near where it is because he has hair on the bottom of his penis near his testicles, so i don’t know if it is a shaving bump.

I’m very worried as I’m scared I could still have genital herpes and given it to him! If i have given him oral sex with a cold sore and then we have unprotected sex , can he pass the herpes back on to my genitals? Because I’ve been reading some stuff and it says you will be immune to it in other places If you have had oral herpes since you were a child but of course you never know.

Just to add- my boyfriend has never had herpes, even oral herpes.

I am extremely worried can someone please help me and give me some information.

It is very possible you have him hsv1 if you have it and perform oral sex. So he needs to get the swan test done ASAP while he has the outbreak. Fortunately, if this is the case and it comes back positive for HSV1, then you can not contract on your genitals from him. The virus already lives inside of you and will continue to come back orally.

      Hello,

Thank you for the information and yes he is going to get it swabbed ASAP. I’m just googling pictures and it looks like an infected hair follicle or infected ingrown hair , but then again that can also look like genital sores. I’m just very worried about this and wanted to know if I could be infected by it on my genital area. Thanks for the info!

So if he is hsv type 1 positive on his genitals and I come into contact with him and have unprotected sex, will I never get it because I have already got it and have had it since a child?

Your previous breakouts have been oral, so it will continue to breakout there for you. You most likely will never breakout from HSV1 on you genitals. If he has HSV2 on his genitals, you could contract that.
