Please see the photo? I am not sure if this is herpes, ingrown hairs, or something else.

Good evening you should get checked.

How does that area feel? Does it burn, tingles, or itchy

It burns a little. Not constantly. It isn't extremely painful but definitely not comfortable at times either. I can't tell based off photos online and descriptions whether or not it is herpes or some other type of infection.

Don't be afraid to get tested ? Just go. You don't want to waste more time. I know is a scary to find out if you have it or not.

Best thing is to get it swabbed asap. Most clinics test for herpes using a viral culture swab, which loses sensitivity and accuracy as lesions get older, so go soon while they are still open to confirm or rule it out, as the case may be. A pcr swab is better and can work on older lesions as well, if you want an even more accurate test result.

I am planning to go tomorrow. I guess was just either looking for confirmation (or some relief) here on whether or not that looks like herpes. All of the photos online look so extreme it's hard for me to tell.

Herpes presents in many different ways, so it's hard to say. They don't look typical, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. Were they like blisters or ulcers before? They seem to be healing somewhat. Did you have sex or receive oral sex within the last week?

I started to notice a bump that seemed to be under my skin about 9 days ago. I initially thought it was a cyst of some sort based off my research, a cyst that came from shaving down there (I usually shave down there a lot, with a regular razor, often times it's probably more dull than it should be.) So I assumed that was the case. So I sat in a warm tub tonight for about 15 minutes, and that photo was taken after that.

Herpes is a surface condition, not deep, but you appear to have more than one sore-like lesion, and a cyst is usually singular, so I can't say for sure. Do you have reason to suspect herpes, i.e., recent exposure?

Yeah after taking the photo I no longer think it's a cyst. No, as far as I know I have not had any recent (or ever) exposure to herpes. I have not always had protected sex, and I also know that someone saying they don't have herpes doesn't mean they that they don't have it and they just aren't aware. I shaved the day before these popped up, I have been working out more than usual the past 2 months and I more often than not do not wear underwear. So I'm not sure if those are the causes of this or if it is something worse and I'm just trying to justify them to myself.

I know I need to go get tested and find out for sure.

If you've not had sex or received oral sex recently, then there's a chance it's not herpes. Only 20% of people develop symptoms long after initial infection (in some cases, the first outbreak may have been mild and overlooked). Most people develop symptoms within a week, two weeks tops.
