Do I have labyrinthitis or something worse :( ? PLEASE HELP

Hi, I've had what seems to be a form of labyrinthitis but I cannot be sure. Things started about 5 weeks ago when I had a bad cough and cold on my chest that eventually went but I have been doing A LOT of flying for work - I'm a nervous flyer and seem to get worked up every week twice a week for work. I recall going swimming on December 26th and remember going under the water and feeling pressure in my sinuses around my nose but didn't think anything of it.

Then about 3 1/2 weeks ago on the 28th/29th Dec 2017. I took the family to London for a trip and all the way driving down I had sharp ear pain on and off. This also resulted in the top my head feeling sore and me having reduced hearing in that ear.

I went to the practice nurse in the first week of Jan who said I had excessive wax in my left ear (the one I have been having pain in) and may have health anxiety mixed with a pulled muscle - she said use wax drops and then come back at the end of the week for another look. I went back but the practice nurse said it was again likely health anxiety and excessive wax ( I had told both practice nurses I was worried it was something sinister and was petrified)

Since then I have noticed my eyes first of all being 'laggy' by that I mean when staring at my screen then looking into the distance my eyes feel like they are taking a second or so to catch up. I saw an optician and he said my eyesight was good, just the right pressure in eyes and nothing wrong at the back of the eyes.

I went to see the GP for the first time (rather than practice nurse) 1 1/2 weeks ago and she did the obvious neurological test like touch her finger, touch nose, walk in a straight line, checked my ears etc and said give it 3 weeks and if I'm still experiencing issues she will elt me have an MRI.

Now about 1 week ago I started to get super health anxiety and started to feel more subtle balance issues that may have been exasperated by stress, but definitely present.

I've in the last 4 days I've gone to sleep ok but woken to feel nauseous and my balance is more uneven when lay down.

I've since been back to the GP and asked for an MRI so I can find out whats going on...

I read about labyrinthitis and some people sound like their world is really spinning but mine isn't it is more a general sense of being subtle off balance.

I'm able to run and eat but have this general feeling in my head mixed with anxiety.

Please, anyone, can you give me some advice, context or perspective as I'm suffering major health anxieties now...

Have you had any tests? VNG? measure the inner ear. This could help to diagnose if so.

      Thanks for replying, Anne.

I've got an ENT appointment on Friday and I was going to push for an MRI

I've started noticing I feel nausea when I am moving my head a lot, I also feel nauseous in the mornings when I move my head into different positions to 'check' if my symptoms are still there.

My balance isn't spinning but definitely 'woozy'
