Do i have piles?

I am 34 and a few days ago I noticed my bum was itchy. I didn't really feel pain however when I passed a stool it was a little uncomfortable and the itching continued. In the end (because I have health anxiety) I ended up having a look in the mirror, right near to my anus opening I have a lump, its not particulary painful bit is slightly blue/purple in colour and isn't huge like the size of a gold ball or anything but I can see it and feel it when I touch that area. Ive been reading up on piles however my lump couldn't be pushed back inside, but from what I have read they can develop externally near the anus. Ive never had this before but I have been taking Codeine recently for back ache and wondered if this caused me constipation or harder stools which might have caused this? I haven't had any blood or anything either. I am a nitemare for looking on google and so far ive managed to diagnosie myself with anal cancer!!!!!

Think you should go to your doctor to get checked out.

Hi, highly likely its Haemorrhoids, check out online essential oils for haemorrhoids, I use a combination of Cypress, Frankincense, Peppermint, and Tea Tree, I mix 2 drops of each to 4 teaspoon full of carrier oil like sweet almond oil, so the ratio is 2 drops of essential oil to 1 teaspoon of carrier oil, and massage on the area, lots of info online, don't use essential oils neat, they are powerful stuff.

Hi. Sounds like a hemorrhoid. With the codeine that's probably why.

Drink lots of water. Get some Tucks pads to clean and soothe. Keeps stools soft.

Because of the purplish / bluish color it may be a thrombosed one but you'd have to see a doctor regardless for a proper diagnosis either way. The internet is not the place. Forums are great to compare stories and get advice once you have your diagnosis but always best to get checked out. Best to you.

It doesn't itch like it did on the first day on Sunday, I've been using a cream I brought. No longer feels uncomfortable when passing stools and I've been drinking lots of water and eating fruit. Lump still there but I've read that I may have always had it and it just gets irritated at times, to be honest sunday is the first time I've ever looked in the mirror at that area so I may have had this since having my kids! I'll go to doctors if anything gets worse but I don't feel there's any need at the moment while everything appears to be under control as they will only give me creams

I would still get yourself checked out by a doctor.

Advice is use over the counter medication and see if it clears up, unless bleeding then see doctor. Everyone I've spoken to you who has had them (which is quite a lot of people actually I didn't realise it was that common) have said they have cleared up without the need for a doctor.

I have had them it us up to you, but you are not a doctor and everyone is different. If I was in your shoes I would see a doctor to get a piece of mind. They gave seen all this before. The people who are writing replies are not doctor's.

I know, I'm aware of that. They are so common tho which is why I thought I would ask peoples dealings of them, NHS website says to see doctor if they don't go down or bleed. I only located this three days ago so I'll give it some time first x

Called doctors this morning, spoke to partner at the practice and discussed symptons over the telephone, no need to go in he has prescribed me stronger cream which I am to collect from pharmacy. I have been advised to drink prune juice to make stools soft for a few days and pile should shrink in time

No, I'm UK. Doc does triage on phone at my surgery, so I had discussion with him and because there is no real pain or bleeding and it's external he's happy for me to try the cream he's prescribed and go back if no better in 2 weeks which I thought would be the case as everyone has told me.

Remember you have a high fibre diet and drink plenty of water.
