i have had ebv/mono for 13 months now and past two weeks my left outer thigh has been really sensitive to the touch ... it tingles mostly when im laying down and the sensation is almost like when you put icy hot on ... i have no sores or rashes .
im wondering if its shingles or part of my ebv which has many weird symptoms .
thx !

Hi Lori,
It would be difficult to diagnose you without doing a history and physical exam. What I can tell you is the pain would follow a dermatomal pattern. Please Google dermatomes and you will see skin maps of how the painful area would look. The pain would be constant. You certainly can have spasms of pain, every time something touches the area, but the pain never goes away. The dermatome is usually in one area.
You would have had a history of chicken pox.
Often the pain is preceded or accompanied by the following symptoms:
headache, mild fever, chills and sweating, aches and pains, swollen lymph nodes adjacent to the pain and or rash, photophobia, malaise, fatigue, and exhaustion.
You would have missed the time frame to start antivirals, but as you are still suffering with EBV, I would encourage you to see a highly qualified physician regarding your symptoms.
If it is Herpes Zoster-Shingles, it would be called, Zoster Sine Herpete! Shingles Without the Rash!
Believe me, the earth abounds with ignorant physicians, especially regarding Herpes Zoster-Shingles! Please let me know how you make out!
You didn't state if it is bothering you much. If it is, I can send you my entire post on Shingles!
Best Wishes
Merry Juliana
