Hi there. Whilst i'm no expert, i feel pretty confident that you just have an infection caused tonsillitus. Although not impossible it's quite rare for someone of your age to get cancer of the throat even being a smoker. One thing i do suggest though, is stop googling things. Whilst 'dr google' can be a helpful tool, it can also have the reverse effect & send people into a panic for often no reason because it will always bring up cancer, but there are many other innocent conditions with similar symptoms. Go to your doctor but i think it's just a throat infection. By the way i'm also a smoker i had a lump come up at the back of my tongue & i worried that it was cancer but it was just a swollen gland on the tongue & i'm abit older than you. You'll be fine but get it checked, if not for peace of mind more than anything. Please stop googling. Dr google can NEVER replace your real doctor. Good luck.
