Do I really have to take out my wisdom teeth? And is a crown necessary for abnormal tooth?

My x-ray shows the following regarding my wisdom teeth:

  • Top left wisdom is not there
  • Top right wisdom is out
  • Bottom left is not out and is sideways
  • Bottom right tooth is tilted, partially out, and very close to the nerve

A doctor in the clinic I was at advised to remove all 3 of the wisdom teeth. I don't really understand why as I don't have any issues with my teeth. It seems unnecessary. And will the sideways tooth push and mess up my lower teeth?

I also have an abnormal premolar that is discoloured and sensitive, but I don't really mind it. If anything, it motivates to always brush and floss my teeth. I was advised to put a crown to protect it, but again, it seems unnecessary if the discomfort isn't huge for me right now.

Your advice is really appreciated! 😃

I'm not sure how to upload the image, so here is a link to the x-ray: https://imgur.com/a/luXIkDx

As to whether or not to place a crown on your tooth, I wouldn't know how to give an opinion because I've never been through it, but I would listen to the advice of the dental professional.

Now, about the wisdom teeth, I would advise you to remove them. I had mine removed last year after thinking for several years that it was not necessary. After a while, they started to get infected and cause a lot of pain.

Upon removal, I discovered that two had been carious inside the gums.

Anyway, my advice is: listen to your dentist.

I appreciate the response! I was skeptical at first, but the more I read, the more I know to just get it done with if suggested. Thanks again for your experience!

Is it okay if I don't remove my wisdom teeth.

While not all patients need their wisdom tooth removed, problems can develop if removal is not performed.

Many patients have smaller mouths and jaws, which do not allow room for the third molars to grow in properly. If these teeth do erupt, overcrowding can occur. Your teeth will begin to shift or overlap each other.

Thank for your feedback! I think I'll just get them removed if my doctor suggests it.

Wisdom teeth is removed commonly due to the swelling of the gum surrounding the 3rd molar. And wisdom teeth being the last tooth, it gets quite difficult to clean it well, hence it's an ideal place for food to stuck and bacteria to grow.
