Do I really need a towel?

I have a paper from the ward I will be in that says I should bring, among other things, a towel. Do I really need to? Towels are heavy and I have other things to pack.
It is a gynaecological ward so maybe that instruction is meant for women who are long term inpatients. I'm just having one other operation.
Also, do hospitals discharge at the weekend? I am going in on Wednesday and supposed to be there for four days. Assuming all goes as planned, when should I expect to go home - over the weekend or the beginning of the next week?

I was given a towel the 1st morning as i only took a couple of itens in with me on the morning of the op.My Dad was going to bring the rest of my things after my op but because there was confusion where i was as i didn't arrive to the ward until 9.30pm i never got everything else until the following evening. The next morning i also
wanted to get out of the gown and they supplied a nightie.I think it depends on the hospital.I had a TAH with BSO and i went in on a Tues and discharged the Fri.Normally doctors don't come round weekends unless there is an emergency.

I was advised to take my own towel, as the hospital ones are usually rough, and after major surgery you need baby soft towels. He! he! just take everything you need and load hubbie up with it all when he takes you home.
My Hospital in Kings Lynn discharges at the weekend, I went in on Good Friday, and came out Saturday. Our hospital is desperate for the bed, so they have a discharge at weekends policy. They were even operating on Easter Sunday!
If you need to know what your hospital does contact PALS, their email will be on your hospital webstie. They are extremely helpful.
Take care

My weekend case luckily has a top that extends so you can get about 2" of higher room. It is quite an art packing it all in. I took a beach bag as well for the towel and dresssing gown. My hubby took my case home with him when I unpacked it, (just had time before they whipped me down to theatre! That's the way I like it!) as there is nowhere to put the case. Just remind your hubby to bring it back when you are going home. Don't worry it all works out very well.

Don't forget the oil of peppermint and lip balm, he! he! I think that just about covers it.
