Do I really need a towel?

I meant just one operation. Computer isn't letting me type properly.

That was supposed to say gynaecological cancer ward.

I had a leaflet like that saying bring towels which I did but when I got there was told hubbie could take them home as for discharge I went in on a Wednesday and came home on Friday but they do discharge on a weekend in Swindon but I don't know about other hospitals

I was given a towel the 1st morning as i only took a couple of itens in with me on the morning of the op.My Dad was going to bring the rest of my things after my op but because there was confusion where i was as i didn't arrive to the ward until 9.30pm i never got everything else until the following evening.The next morning i also

wanted to get out of the gown and they supplied a nightie.I think it depends on the hospital.I had a TAH with BSO and i went in on a Tues and discharged the Fri.Normally doctors don't come round weekends unless there is an emergency.

Hi. I was discharged on a Saturday for my first op so should be fine if that's when you ready to go. You might even go on the Friday. Some people don't like using hospital towels but most hospitals would provide if you needed them. You could always phone ward to double check. Good luck with op x

i had my op on Monday and i didn't take a towel in as same as you i felt adding a towel to my already quite full bag was too much to take in. The hospital supplied me with a normal size towel ie bigger than a hand towel but not a bath sheet, i don't think i would have been handle a sheet on first shower after op. I found it to be a very nice smelling, very clean towel as i'm sure they have to be boiled to within an inch of their lives (poor towels) to meet cleanliness guidelines. If you really want your own whoever visits you the first night after the op could bring one in for you

the hospital I went in provided towels and you can be discharged any day if you are well you could be out earlier that you expect

I was advised to take my own towel, as the hospital ones are usually rough, and after major surgery you need baby soft towels.  He! he! just take everything you need and load hubbie up with it all when he takes you home.  

My Hospital in Kings Lynn discharges at the weekend, I went in on Good Friday, and came out Saturday.  Our hospital is desperate for the bed, so they have a discharge at weekends policy.   They were even operating on Easter Sunday!

Between the towel, nightie, dressing gown, slippers, clothes and toiletries they are asking me to bring, and considering how many days I will be spending there, I don't see how this is going to fit in a small overnight suitcase.

I took a small bag in with me with dressing gown,slippers,some toiletry items,book,magazines and my hospital paperwork.The rest was meant to follow that night but i never saw my Dad until the following evening following the confusion after my op.He did bring in a small case and a small bag of food but once the case was unpacked he took it home again.Hospitals don't always like cases by the bed and you bedside locker isn't big.On the Thurs he took some things back home knowing that i was hoping to go home Fri.I wore the clothes home that i wore in.I felt that i was really organised and didn't end up with that much to bring home when i finally got discharged.I didn't use half the things i took in.
