Do I really need to do gallbladder removal surgery?

I've been having abdominal pain (around under rib) after meal almost everyday and small gallstone was found by ultra sound. My gastroenterologist suggested gallbladder removal surgery. I went to other doctor to get second opinion. He said maybe gas causes pain not gallstone but he suggested to see surgeon if I should do surgery. The surgeon also told me to do surgery. I had really bad pain in middle of the night twice so far and I really got scared. I scheduled my surgery in December 22nd.
The things is I started to do FODMAP diet 3 weeks ago and my pain is gone so far. Also my pain is mostly left side, not right side which most people have. Surgeon said gallstone pain can be anywhere.
I know gallstone won't be disappear naturally so I maybe have to have surgery one day but should I really do it now?
It is big deal for me to remove organ but fodmap diet really limit what to eat and I don't want to do it forever so I really can't make decision.... Please let me hear your opinion. Thank you!!

I would recommend to go ahead have the surgery now. I actually had my gallbladder removed in a very rare case. My Dr went in for normal removal but found my gallbladder had attached itself to my stomach. They have no idea how this happened. I had been to the ER several times but because I was a suboxone patient I was kind of looked at like a drug addict looking for a fix. My dr was very upset and he without question set me up for surgery 2 days after visiting him with agony and pain. Because Drs in the past just sent me home everytime the prolonged diseased gallbladder sitting there for years caused my gallbladder to become nothing but stone. I had a portion of my stomach removed along with the gallbladder, was released 5 days later and have not had any pain since. If i had to do it all again I wish the first dr would have offered surgery because I would have done it without question right then. Hope this helps.
