Do I still have to keep my broken foot elevated at night 4 weeks later?

I broke my foot (2nd/3rd/4th metatarsal fracture) exactly a month ago, and am still in a boot and using crutches. My question is, at this point how much should I be elevating my foot? I've been keeping it propped up while sitting at home and through the night, but I've been struggling to sleep due to the discomfort of lying in bed with my leg elevated (I've been leaving the boot on at night since I don't want to risk making the injury worse by moving around in my sleep). Do you think I can just sleep normally with the boot on without propping up my foot, or will this be a detriment to the healing process? Also, would you recommend trying to sleep without the boot or leaving it on?

my injury not the same as yours ...broken ankle...but I was sleeping in aircast until about 7 weeks. Was then told I cld take it off to sleep and found I was scared to do so for a while so spent first half of night without it then put it back n cos my ankle hurt when I turned over. So far as elevating is concerned...well if you are lying down you are getting some elevation even if not toes above nose level...but getting a good nght's sleep is also important. I kept a pillow (and still do at 11 wks) at my feet and used if i felt need to.
