do I take HRT at age 54 post op TAH and BSO

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi I am now day 5 post op and read the good and bad re HRT my specialist wasnt sure if it would offer any benefits however it appears coming off is quite unpleasant.

My recovery to date has been fantastic minimal discomfort, no PV bleeding and a very positive outlook, wake with a cracking headache which subsides with paracetamol.

Any advice would be welcome please

    Hi Sheila.

I am 51 and had TAH and BSO 6 weeks ago. Been sensible for once in my life, and recovery has gone well. Still not lifting more than about 5 kilos if I can help it. Walking is good - heals you quicker, and keeps you mobile! smile

I get hot flushes and night sweats, and my brain has gone to hell, lol...but it was like that for a year or two before Hyster. wink

I am not on HRT - haven't been to Doc, but I had endo, so am assuming I wouldn't be allowed on it anyways. Also, like one of the other ladies here, at 51 I am probably more the other side of Menopause now, so wouldn't benefit anyway.

As long as you are happy feeling that way.  I had severe endo too but that did not prevent me using hrt.
